Virginia I 9 DAIRY MONTH What is so rare as a day in June, Then if ever, come perfect days? And on it goes, and we know that besides beautiful and rare days, we remember June for a great many beautiful and delightful things ? roses, June Brides, etc. But June al so has another reason to be remem bered. It is National Dairy Month. During this month we try especially hard to use dairy products as much as possible. Milk is one of the most important foods because it contains essentials necessary for growth. It contains cal cium and phosphorus to harden bones and build teeth as well as other min erals necessary for the body. It is an excellent source of Vitamin A and contains some of all vitamins. It is shigh in protein, which is necessary for body building. The cream con tent of milk furnishes us with fat. The daily food requirements call j for one quart of milk a day for each i child and one pint a day for each adult. This does njpt all have to be drunk in a fluid furrr^ but may be used in cooking to make many deli cious dishes. For a children's party try the two following milk drinks: t'hoco-Mint 2-3 cup crushed peppermint stick candy 1 1-2 squares chocolate 1 quart milk Pinch salt 4 or 6 drops peppermint extract Melt crushed candy and chocolate in 1-4 cup milk.
