MORSE HI Rl EY The wedding of Miss Dorothy Bru-1 ton Hurley, of Williamston, to Wil liam Clarence Morse, Jr., of Eliza bcth-4?1ty, took place in the localj Methodist Church last Friday after noon at 5:30. The bride's father, the Rev. Bernard TaImage Hurley, offi ciated, u^jng the ring ceremony. The church was beautifully decor ated with floor baskets of white gla dioli against a background of palms, fern and native pines. Candelabra containing cathedral candles, burn ed on both sides and at the back of the altar illuminating the scene with a soft glow. Small candles burned at the altar which was entwined with clemetis. An half hour musical program ren dered by Mrs. W. K. Parker, of Wil liamston, at the organ, included: "Venetian Love Song," N^viif1, "Ave Maria," Schubert; "To an Evening Star," Wagner; "My Heart at Thy Sweet Voice," Saint-Saens; "Poem," Fibich; "Intermezzo," Mascagni. Dur ing the ceremony, Mrs. Parker play ed "Angel Serenade," by Braga. Pre ceding the ceremony "O Perfect Love" was sung by a vested choir and Mrs. James Smith sang "Be cause." At the conclusion of the cer emony, Mrs. Smith sang "The Pray er Perfect." The traditional wedding marches were used. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her brother, Bernard Tal mage Hurley, Jr.. wore a Vionnet model of ivory faille taffeta with bouffant skirt. The tight waisted bodice was fashioned with sweet heart neckline and full puffed sleeves. The finger tip veil fell from a fluted cap centered with faille taf feta flowers. She wore ivory lace el bow-length mitts and a single strand of pearls. She carried white Killar ney roses showered with illies of the valley made cascade style. The maid of honor, Miss Ruth Hur ley. sister of the bride, wore a dress of melody blue faille taffeta with bouffant skirt. The tight bodice was made with sweetheart neckline bound with appliqued flowers of self material and full puffed sleeves. She wore a tiara of matching flowers with shoulder length veil. She car ried an arm bouquet of mixed flow ers tied with blue satin ribbon. The bridesmaids, Miss Glennie Morse, of Elizabeth City, sister of the groom, and Miss Lucy Wynne, of Washington, wore dresses of Fuchia Rose faille taffeta made identical witli that of the maid of honor. They carried arm bouquets of mixed flow ers tied with rainbow satin ribbon and wore tiara of matching flowers with shoulder length veils. The groom was attended by his best man, William Thomas Jackson, Jr., of Elizabeth City. The grooms men were Andrew J. Bailey, Walter Calioon, Forrest Dunstan and Wiley Coppersmith, Jr., all of Elizabeth City. The vestibule ushers were W. 11. Harrison and W. M. Manning, of Williamston. The gentlemen of the wedding party wore white suits. The bride's mother wore navy corded chiffoti trimmed in white with navy accessories. She wore a corsage of gardenias. The groom's mother wore black chiffon with matching accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Morse, the eldest daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Bernard Talmage Hurley, of Williamston, is a graduate of Louisburg College where she took an outstanding part in music. She is a member of the Sigma Iota Chi so rority. For the past several years she has taught music in the schools of Robeson County. Mr. Morse, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Clarence Morse, of Weeks ville, is a graduate of Wake Forest College where he received the L.L.B. degree. He was a member of the Golden Bough and Lamda Chi Al pha and Sigma Delta Kappa frater ntttes. He wasTormerly judge of rec order's court of Pasquotank County and member of the general assembly, 1939 session. He is now practicing law in.Elizabeth City. For traveling Mrs. Morse wore an ensemble of beige and cocoa brown with full length fitted coat. She wore a cocoa brown off-the-face felt hat with brown alligator and suede shoes and bag. Her corsage was of talisman roses. After a wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Morse will make their home in Eliz abeth City. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Hurley and Miss Ruth Hurley enter tained at a cake cutting for the brid al party and out-of-town guests at their home on East Church Street. In the soft glow of candlelight the house was decorated with a profusion of cut flowers in pastel shades. Receiv ing at the door and in the living room were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Watts and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Harrison. Mrs. T. B. Brandon invited guests Into the dining room where Mrs. Henry Crawford and Mrs. J. D. Mason re ceived. Hie three-tired bride's cake iced in traditional white with an arched dome which sheltered a min iature bride and groom was placed in the center of a lace covered table flanked by lighted white tapers in silver holders. An artistic arrange ment of white asters and fern and candles was used on the buffet. Pre siding over the punch bowl was Mrs. David Hix. Punch and lime sher bert with the bridal cake were serv ed by Misses Marian Hurley, Mary RECENT BRIDE HONORED Wednesday evening, Mrs. Garland Woolard entertained at five tables of bridge to compliment Mrs. J. Thomas Barnhill, Jr., a recent bride. Miss Nell Harrison, sister of the hon oree. passed the tallies. Mixed summer flowers made a lovely setting for the tables. During play, the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Iceman Barnhill and Mrs. Henry Har rison, mother of the honoree, served iced drinks. At the end of the game a delicious - ice cream course was served.
