Rev J H Smith the bride's pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. John Hardy, rector of the groom Long leaf pine formed a back ground for five stands of cathedral candles Ivy decorated these and tall baskets of white chrysanthemums and gladioli were used on either Side of the altar White pompom chry santhemums and white satin ribbons marked the pews for the family. Mrs Wheeler Martin rendered a pfogram of wedding music, including Nevin's Wedding Prelude" and Wedding Intermezzo." Mr. Arthur Hanna, of Norfolk, sang, "At Dawn ing" and "Because," and Mrs. J H. Smith sang- "Love Here Is Thy Heart" and "1 Love Thee." The tra ditional wedding marches were used and Sliobert's Serenade was played during the ceremony. Ushers were Messrs. Paul and Mal colm Simpson, brothers of the bride groom; Urbin Rogers and^ Asa ,H. Crawford. Mrs C B Clark, Jr.. was matron of honor, and Miss Jane Moore, of Winston-Salem, maid of honor Tliey wore identical Zephyr blue velvet gowns made colonial basque style with sweetheart necklines. The bouf fant skirts were attached to hip length scalloped bodices. Blue vel vet flowers in the same shade were made into tierras to match their gowns. Yellow was the predominat ing color of their colonial nosegays of roses and chrysanthemums. The bride's gown was of white faille" silk. A pointed and scalloped marquisette yoke was edged with Chant illy lace and to the tight point ed bodice trimmed in self-covered euttons was attached a full skirt with long train. She wore a bridal cap of the same lace and her tulle veil was held by a band of orapge blossoms Her bouquet was made of Waster lilies and tulle to match the veil and her only jewelry was two diamond clips, a gift from the groom. She was given in marriage by her brother, Howard Berkley Cone. Attending the bridegroom as his best man was his uncle, Mr Leslie Thurston Fowden. Mn Cmiv, "f Ihr hridp. wore a powder blue gown trimmed with silver with a shoulder corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Leslie lowden, aunt of the bridegroom, wore an Eleanor blue dress with a shoulder corsage of talisman roses. At nine o'clock Mrs Cone enter tained with a reception at her home on Church Street. The dining room table was covered with a lace cloth and centered with a lovely arrangement of white roses, carnations and chrysanthemums. Later in the evening the bridal couple left for a wedding trip through the Valley of Virginia. The bride wore a brown woolen ensem ble with accessories in darker brown and a shoulder corsage of Talisman rosea. Mrs. Simpson is the daughter of Mrs. Percy Bunn Cone and the late Dr Cone, of Williamston. She is a granddaughter of the late Dr. How ard F. Freeman and Burtis Cone, of Wilson and Nash Cuuii}i? an<i her ancestors were prominent in that section of the State She graduated from St. Mary's College and has since held a position with the gov ernment. Mr Simpson is the son of the late J Paul and Nora Fowden Simpson and is a grandson of Mrs William Reginald Fowden and the late Mr. Fowden who are descendants of not ed families of England He is now associated with the V-C Chemical Company. Immediately following the re hearsal on Friday night Mr. and Mrs Urbin Rogers entertained the wed ding party and out-of-town guests with a cake cutting at the George Reynolds Hotel. At one end of the dining room a long table was cen tered by a three-tiered wedding cake. Silver bowls of white mixed flowers completed the decoration of the table on which an imported cut work cloth was used. Canapes of I green and white, cut in wedding bell and slipper shapes were served with sandwiches, pickles and nuts. After the bride cut the cake xtancing was enjoyed by the party. Legion Auxiliary Installs Officers The regular monthly meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held m the home of Mrs. C. L. Wil son, Robersonville, on Saturday at 3:00 o'clock. This was a joint installation meet ing of officers of both the senior and junior auxiliary and the following Wficers were installed for the year 1941-1942: Mrs. W M Wynne, president: Mrs. W O. Griffin, second vice president; Mrs. Ray Goodmon, secretary; Lula Purvis Gray, junior president; Al berta Swain, junior secretary. The president in a very few well chosen words thanked the organi zation for electing her to her post and asked the cooperation of all members and especially the attend ance of the members at meetings. Lula Gray Purvis gave a very in teresting report of her week at Girl's State, sponsored by the local unit. This is the second year that the aux iliary has sponsored a girl to Girl's State and both times, the girls have returned with glowing reports of the benefits derived from this trip. The group, accompanied by Mrs. C L. Wilson at the piano, sang World War No. 1 songs, after which dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses.
