V VapoRud Junior Club Holds Regular Meet Here At the regular monthly meeting jt the Junior Woman's Club Tues day night, held in the Episcopal Church, three new members, Mrs. Shelbon Hall, Miss Irene James and Miss Edna Alphin, were accepted in to the club Mrs. David Modlin, sec retary, and Mrs Abner Brown, treas urer, gave their reports with Mrs. Charles Leonard, president, in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Jim Cooke requested that an amount be determined now for the library in order that the committee would know how much they could rely on for the year, and also asked for volunteers to assist in running the library one week out of the month, when the librarian must be on the bookmobile. Fifty dollars was I approved for the project for the | year * The Red Cross roll call will be gin the second week in November and the Senior Woman's Club has been asked to join the Junior Wo man's Club in the drive this year. Definite rules for the Telephone bridge were given?a person may play at as many tables as he wishes; 300 for the first game, 500 for the second and each subsequent; 100 for progressions; no one bids; game in hand; cut for partners after each progressions. Each hostess must con tact a member of the committee be fore Thursday noon with all scores. In connection with a production company from Kansas City, the ways and means committee will give a play, "Bubbling Over" November 12 and 13. Mrs H O. Peele urged members of the club to aid in the defense work by assisting Mrs. Dunning, head of the Red Cross production center. Mrs. J A Eason reviewed the district meeting held here October 3rd. In preparing for the finance cam paign to promote and maintain Scouting locally, Ray Goodmon, gen eral campaign chairman, today asked the citizens of Martin County to "lend a hand to Scouting and lift our boys to botterncttizenship through Scouting." He also stated that "to invest in boyhood is to build man hood." Mr. Goodmon went on to further state that "No money or time I in vest pays larger dividends or brings me greater satisfaction, than the , money and time I invest in Scout ! ing. There is nothing more worth while in any community than its boy life. Statisticians tell us that the ec i onomic value of a boy at 18 years I is $40,000. Scouting is protecting and j insuring that investment." ? The local campaign for funds will open next Monday morning, October 20th.
