Activities In 4-H
Clubs Last Month
"I feel like I have learned so much
and really I am much more interest
ed in my 4-H work than ever before."
This was the reaction from Ola Gray
Williams, dress contestant. There
were eight girls who entered the
contest. Ola Gray Williams, of the
Farm Life school club, was the win
ner. Louise Rogerson, of the Wil
Uamston club, received honorable
mention, and also Dorothy Brown
Manning. There were eleven other
participants in this contest. "I am
beginning to be far more interested
in 4-H work," so said Margaret Rob
erson, county canning contest win
ner. There were ten who entered
this contest. Miss Ola Gray Williams,
winner of the dress contest, was also
entered in the Clothing Achievement
contest. Mrs. John Biggs and Miss
Mary Carstarphen were the judges at
the County Dress contest. Scores
were discussed with the girls and all
understood what points they should
make improvement on to gain more
recognition.
There were twelve meetings held
with girl 4-H clubs during the month.
It was impossible to organize the
Senior Oak City club during the
month owing to lack of time. The
home agent showed all junior girls
what work should be done to earn a
certificate for this year, and gave a
demonstration "The apron pattern
and how to place it on your goods."
Older girls were shown a slip cor
rectly made and suitable for the con
test.
Happenings In The
Farm Life School
The Parent-Teacher Association of
the Farm Life school will have its
regular meeting Thursday, Novem
ber 12th, at 8 p. m. Everyone is cor
dially invited to attend. A portion of
the program will be given by the
Home Economic department.
With the help of the PTA, the
school was able to secure Miss Eliz
abeth Daniels to teach public school
music. Miss Daniels is also teaching
private lessons to those that wanted
them. The school is hoping to or
ganize a glee club and rnythm band.
Miss Daniels began work Monday,
November 2nd.
The school has sold 9,620 pounds
of metal and has in a pile on the
school campus around 1260 pounds
now. People in the community sold
9.295 pounds making a total of 18,
915 pounds sold since the metal drive
was started in this county. Hie av
erage per student was about 71
pounds.

School Reports On
Scrap Collections
The last of the scrap metal col
lected by local students during the
recent campaign was removed from
the grammar school yard last Wed
nesday afternoon. "Oie last load
brought to a total of thirteen the
number of truck trips made to re
move the varied collection from the
high school and grammar school
yards.
Students and their parents brought
a total of 42,155 pounds of iron, old
tin, rubber, etc., to the scrap piles
at the two schools during the nation
wide campaign. The grammar
school students more than doubled
the amount collected at the high
school, bringing in a total of 28,805
pounds. The high school collection
yielded 13,350 pounds.
Checks in the amount of $54.59 for
the high school and $104.12 for the
grammar school have been deliver
ed to the winning rooms by Princi
Ruth Lilley.

A revival meeting will bagin at
the Jamesville Baptist Church next
Monday night, and continue each
night through the week, closing on
the third Sunday. Tune, 7:49 p. m.
Rev. J. C. Kidd, from Bennett, N. C.,
will be with us, to do the preaching.
We especially invite the church peo
ple in Jamesville and surrounding
community to be with us in this
meeting and pray that the Lord will
give us a great revival in Jamesville.

classrooms.
