Accepts Bid to Sorority
Miss Rosalyn Mizelle, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Mizelle, of James
ville, recently accepted a bid to Sig
ma Tau Chi Sorority on the campus
of Atlantic Christian College. Miss
Mizelle is president of the Woman’s
Athletic Association, and junior rep
; esontative of the Woman’s Dormi
tory Council of A. C. College, in
Wilson.
Improving in Hospital
June Beach, A/S, U. S. Navy, con
tinues to improve in a Naval hospital
in Bainbridge, Md. Entering the serv
ice September 28th, he has been in
the hospital since October 2.

RECENT BRIDE COMPLIMENTED
j On Saturday evening, Mrs. Gordon
Bailey and Miss Anna Louise Taylor
gave a miscellaneous shower for
Mrs. George W. Taylor. Jr., recent
bride, in the home of Mrs. Bailey in
Everetts.
Several contests and bingo were
enjoyed during the evening. Re
freshments consisted ot lime jello,
whipped cream, and cake. The color
motif of green and white was used
both in the refreshments and the
games.
After being served. Mrs Taylor
was summoned by a mock telegram
to cut the wedding cake in the din
ing room. The three-tiered cake
was made of green and white ruf
i ties and on the top were a miniature
\ bride and groom.
About fifty guests were present.

marine on Tarawa. A year has
passed since the atoti fell to the
Yariks and the nuns regularly visit
and pray at their liberators' graves.

RECENT BRIDE
On last Friday evening, Mrs. Elmo
B. James of Everetts and Mrs. Her
man Bowen entertained in the home
of Mrs. Bowen in Williamston with
a bridge party and a surprise miscel
laneous shower, honoring Mrs. Geo.
W. Taylor, Jr., the former Miss Thel
ma Peel of Everetts. Guests were
greeted at the door by the hostesses
and invited into the dining room
where punch was served by Mrs. D.
C. Peel and Mrs. J. W. Peel. The
dining room table was covered in
a lace cloth and entwined with ivy.
On one end of the table was the
punch bowl on a mirror plaque and
on the other end was a miniature
bride and bridegroom, while in the
center was a silver bowl filled with
feverfew and fern.
Mrs. Taylor was then presented a
white wagon filled with lovely gifts
and was given crystal in her pattern
by the two hostesses.
Guests were then invited into the
living room where flowered place
cards marked their places for bridge.
A corsage of carnations and fever
few was presented Mrs. Taylor.
After four progressions, Mrs. Jim
my Harris was presented a nest of
ashtrays for high score; Mrs. J. D.
Woolard, "hijacs” for second high;
■ Mrs. Walter Bailey, a vase for tak
ing a trick with the deuce of clubs.
The hostesses served refreshments
of delicious homemade banana ice
cream and cup cakes iced in white
with pink flower decorations. A cel
lophane bag of rice was on each
plate.

autiful gifts.
The hostesses gave Mrs. Taylor a
tablespoon in her chosen pattern of
