WHEREAS, the Post Office Department at Washington is spon
soring National Air itlail Week from October 27 to November 2,
1946 and
WHEREAS, the development of air mail is and has been of
great importance to the business concerns and the people of this
city, and,
WHEREAS, I believe the citizens of Williamston, should take
an active interest in the future development of air mail,
NOW THEREFORE, I, John L. Hassell, Mayor of the City of
Wiiiiamston do hereby designate the week of October 27-Nov
rmber 2 as Air Mail Week for all Williamston and do call upon
the people to make proper observance of this week by liberally
patronizing the air mail and otherwise evidencing their appre
ciation of the efforts of the Post Office Department to provide
this necessary service for our city.

and simultaneously offering heller and faster service. The Post Office has borrowed the prov
en principle that by gelling more customers for a good product at a reduced cost tin* unit cost of
delivery is cut. A lower price requires one thing to succeed - larger volume.
