Sixteen Criminal Cases Slater For Trial Next Week (Continued frvrr page one) en was placed under $1,000 bond. Richard Davis. Poplar Paint white man. is charged with as saulting Floyd Thomas with an automobile near Williamston on Highway 64 the 21st day of last month, resulting in the child's death. Davis was released under bond in the sum of $750. Frank Green, Jamesville color ed man, is charged with drunken and reckless driving and man slaughter. Driving a truck, Green ran- into a car operated by W. A. Bailey at the intersection of High way 17 and the Bear Grass Road on January 18. causing the death of James Garland Bailey and the injury of W. A. Bailey, Roland Harrison, Vernon Harrison and Johnnie Wynne. He was released under bond. Charged with obtaining $527 by false -pretense from R. S. Critchrr back in July. 1915. John E. Williams is again scheduled for trial, the case having been con tinued each teriT) since Septem ber. 1945. Henry L. Harvey, charged with drunken driving, is booked for trial after having had his case continued at each term of the court since December. 1945. Willie Savage, his case having been continued at least twice, is scheduled to answer in the case charging him with obtaining $60 from Dr. E. L. Early by false pre tense. Ethel Dell Dad ar.d David O. Bowen, charged with fornication and adultery during certain per iods last year, appealed from a i county court judgment and failed to report for trial last December. Richard Vines, charged with breaking into ar.d stealing $180 and four quarts of legal liquor from the Roberson Slaugther House last October 4. is slated for trial next Monday after having had bis case continued last term. Appealing from n county court judgment. Leonard Boston is to answer to the charge of trespass ing on the lands of Joe Jefferson ar.d assaulting Jefferson. John H Smitli. appealing from a county court judgment, is charged with issuing three worth less checks, one in the sum of $15. another in the sum of $75 and a third in the sum of $15 last Janu ary to W. H. Morning of Bethel. Jim Johnson, Oak City white man, and Rqt'n Davis, colored wo man. are changed with fornication and adultery, indecent exposure and drunkenness and disorderly conduct, appealed from 90-days sentence meted out by Judge J. C. Smith in the county court. Going op a rampage last De cember 14. Tom Scott is charged w ith entering the home of Charlie Mason and assaulting Mason and Annie Clyde Davis. Whit M. Donald and John Earl Edmonds, young white men. are charged wjth entering the home of Lester Rogers last January and carrying off three watches, $7 in cash and a pint of liquor. LeRoy Patterson is charged with bastardy, the warrant alleg ing that “he begat upon the body of Kali Griffin a child on March 22. 194C. and refuses to support said child." In the county court Patterson called for a jury trial and the case was scheduled for trial next week. Glenn Albert Chase, former serviceman from Iowa and until his arrest a short time ago a far mer near Williamston, is charged with breaking into and robbing the Woolard Hardware and Pitt man stoics lure on February 25. Unable to raise bond in the sum of $1,750, he continues in jail. Edward Griffin, J. E. Purvis and Lawrence Wiggins are charg ed with the larceny on or about last December 17 of 14 bags of peanuts valued at $140 from Gui ganus and Rogers here.
