Detroit.—Chevrolet today be
came the first manufacturer in
the auto industry to announce
production of half a million ve
hicles in the ealenda; year 1947.
according to a statement made
here by Nicholas Drevstadt. gen
eral manager of this largest Gen
eral Motors division.
Production of its 500.000 unit
July 7 contrasts with 1946. when
Chevrolet, because of a prolonged
strike and material shortages, had
not attained so high a mark until
mid-November. The figure in
cludes 360.947 passenger cars and
140.688 trucks.

bank, by W. G. Stancill, secretary
treasurer of the Washington Na
tional Farm Loan Association.
These loans which were made
through local national farm loan
associations represent the largest
volume of new leans for any year
since 1934. and were distributed
as follows North Carolina $3,257,
arnounting to $133,250 were made
through the Washington National
Farm Loan Association,” Secre
tary-Treasurer Stancill said.
