Martin's home park Sunday after
noon 2 to 1.
Although they had but six hits
to 10 for their opponents Bear
Grass won the game by heads up
5 play in the field and at the plate.
Williamston miscucd three times
while Bear Grass was guilty of a
couple of faulty plays.
Nicholson pitched a cool, steady
game for Bear Grass and kept the
ten hits Ire allowed scattered.

Hamilton, a team that has play
ed some of the best ball in the
league, although its standing does
not indicate it, put on another ex
hibition Sunday afternoon when
i( played 12 inning to defeat Ever
etts 1 to 0.
Whitaker of Hamilton and Keel
of Everetts battled on fairly even
terms as far as hits were con
cerned until the 12th inning. Keel
having yielded seven and Whit
aker six. but Hamilton got to Keel
for two hits and the ball game in
the 12th.
There were other good pitch
ing performances in league play
Sunday as Billy Peel of Williams
ton was shaded by Nicholson of
Bear Grass 2 to 1 although the
Martin allowed but six hits. D.
Green of Robersonville set Has
sell down with one run and four
hits, and Ben Seott of Oak City
held Cross Roads to five hits to
whitewash them II to 0.
There were two changes in the
standings over the week-end. Oak
City moving into fourth place, a
few percentage points behind Wil
liumston and a shade more than a
game behind second-place Rober
sonville.
With its thrilling victory over
the Everetts Cubs and Cross
Roads loss to Williamston and Oak
City, Hamilton moved out of the
cellar once more.
Tobacco harvesting is again in
terferring with league play as it
has been difiicult tor teams to
gt t the full number of players
out for their games and some of
the contests for Wednesday after
noon have been postponed.
Some of the postponed games
are bt ing made up on Saturday
afternoons while othe s will be
played at night in the park at
Turboto where several games in
the league have already been
played.

bat. Pitcher Garland Wynn col
lected two hits in three trips up.
Davenport had but three oppor
tunities to hit.
Cross Roads scored one run in

in Everetts Sunday afternoon as
Hamilton's Whitaker went 12 in

been posted in the game when in
the top of the 12th. Etheridge was
sent to the plate to bat foi W. E.
Everett, lie got a hit and Daniels
was sent in to run for him. Dan

to left by Morris. That was the
ball game for Hamilton.
In going the route Whitaker al
lowed just six hits while fanning
12. Keel fanned seven and gave
up nine hits including the two de
cisive blows in thi' 12th frame.
Whitaker also led his team at
the plate, getting a double and a
single in five trips up. Pinch-hit
ter Etheridge had the host per
centage of the day, of course, as
he had one for one. A. D. Newsom
also had two hits for five trips up.

The loss was the 20th of the
