The action was taken at a joint tneeting of the Alcoholic Advis ory Committee, a group of citi zens interested in solving prob lems of alcoholism, and the alco holic committee of the hospitals board. At a session held at Dix Hill, the unit of the state mental hos pitals system located here, the ad visory group endorsed a icport of John Ruggles of Southern Pines, chairman of the alcoholic com mittee of the North Carolina Hos pitals Board. The committee is initiating a 11 program for care of alcoholic H which was started by the 194! An intensive educational program on alcoholism through out the state, provided by the Hos pitals board. 2. A study and survey of the entire problem of alcoholism in the state. 3. Establishment bv delegation of operation, small alcoholic fa cilities in various local hospitals with the co-operation of local j medical groups, civic and welfare agencies. It violates many accepted standards of chivalry but, Slutz explains, "I think women would prefer a dis courteous escort to a gallant corpse.
