leased by the Bureau of Public
Roads of the Department of Com

The estimate showed that North
Carolina has 13.2 per cent in
crease over 1949 in these types of
vehicles. Louisana ranks first with
14.5 per cent increase and New
Mexico second with 13.8
The figures of the Bureau of
Public Roads lists 720. 455 auto
mobiles and 182.388 buses and
trucks for a total of 902.843 in
1949 as compared with an esti
mated 819,000 autos and 203,000
buses and trucks for a total of
1.022,000 in 1950 Actually motor
vehicle registration has lopped
1,158,000, but this figure includes
motorcycles, motorbikes and mis-i

Negro county agent in Rocking
ham for tin State College Exten
sion Service, Anderson has seed
ed two plots of alfalfa and re
seeded a permanent pasture this
fall.

the seed in one alfalfa plot On the
other plot, In used a cultipacker.
Two weeks later, he had a IK) per
cent stand and good growth start
id on the plot seeded with the
cultipacker. On the other plot
he had less than a 60 per cent
stand and the alfalfa was jest be
ginning to peep out of the ground.
Anderson is hoping that the
latter plot will hr able to compete
with the cold weather that is ex
pected during the next two or
three months.
The Rockingham County farmer
is getting good results from an old
renovated pastun which was
seeded with Ladino clover and or
chard grass on October 14. The
pasture was disced, harrowed,
seeded, and eultiparked with I 1-2
tons of lime per acre and 1,000
pounds of 2-12-12 fertilizer.
