Great Film At The
Viccar Thursday
Another great film biography
comes to the local screen on
Thursday when “Jim Thorpe—■
All American,” starring Burt Lan
^ole. opens, at
tHe V icear Theatre. A tender love
story, a thrilling sportsv»»an’s sa
ga, -a- -story of an American In -
dian who became one of the most
widely acclaimed heroes of his
day, the real life story of Jim
Thorpe packs more interest and
drama than half a dozen fictional
pieces.
Phyllis Thaxter plays the girl
for whom Jim turned from track
to the glamorous sport of foot
ball to become the nation’s num
ber one star. He apparently im
pressed her, a fellow student at
Carlisle Indian School, for they
were married when Thorpe re
turned from Europe where he
performed the prodigious feat of
winning both decathlon and pen
tathlon events in the 1912 OQym
