vows with Louis Jerome Norris.

ciated to perform the double ring
ceremony. The vows were ex
changed before a setting of white
gladioli arrangements with white
candles set against a background
of fern and smilax.
Prior to the entrance of the bri
dal party a half hour program of
nuptial music was rendered by
Miss Jean Mobley of Williams
ton. Miss Mobley played a pre
lude of wedding selections and
Mrs. Josiah Bailey, Jr., of Ral
eigh sang “Beloved Is This Morn".
, At the approach of the wedding
' party, Miss Mobley played Lo

ing with "Clair de Lune” by De
1 bussy as the vows were exchang
ed. Mrs. Bailey sang "The Lord's
Grayer” for the benediction and

The bride entered the church
i with her father by whom she was
given in marriage. She wore a pa
tio length gown of French Chan
* tilly lace and satin with a nylon
tulle skirt made over satin. The
i lace jacket buttoned down the
front with satin covered buttons
* and featured a manderin neck
line. Matching lace gauntlets that
pointed over the hands were fit
ted to fall in line with the cap
sleeves. She wore a shoulder
length veil of French illusion fall
ing gracefully from a satin and

pearl tiara. She carried a white!
prayer book covered with white j
bridal flowers centeret! with a j
white orchid.
Miss Elizabeth Parsons of Ral
eigh attended the bride as maid
of honor. She w'ore a ballerina
length dress of teal blue lace and
nylon net over taffata. Her shell
bonnet was covered in matching
blue lace and she wore corre
sponding lace mitts. She carried a
nosegay of pink asters with blue
cascading streamers.
Honorary bridesmaids were
Miss Jewell Harrell of Raleigh
and Mesdames D. C. McLawhorn,
Jr., and J. C. Coltrain of Wil
liamston. They wore pastel bal
lerina length dresses and wrist
corsages of yellow carnations.
The bridegroom was attended
by his father as best man. Ushers

Cracken of Pelham, Herbert Phil
lips of Morehead City and Walter
Leonard of Hickory.
The mother of the bride wore a
dress of blue lace and matching
blue accessories and an orchid
corsage.
The mother of the groom chose
a rose lace dress with brown ac
cessories and had a brown orchid.
Following the wedding cere
mony the bride’s parents enter
tained at a reception in the Wil
liamston Woman’s, Club.
The banquet room was decorat
ed throughout with arrangements
of seasonable white flowers and
greenery. The bride's table was
placed at the end of the room. It
was centered with a three-tiered
wedding cake arranged with pink
carnations and smilax. Two punch
bowls were on either end of the
table.
Mrs. Abner Brown introduced
the guests to the receiving line
composed of the wedding party.
Mrs. D. C. Sabiston of Jackson
ville. aunt of the br;de, served the
cake and at the punch bowls were

mauve-pink suit with navy ac
cessories and the orchid lifted
from her prayer book.
Mrs. Norris attended W. C. U. N.
C. where she was a member of
the Cornelian Society and is a
graduate of Hardbarger’s Busi
ness College.
lyir. Norris is a graduate of the
University of North Carolina and
is at the present time continuing
his studies in medicine at the
New York University.
Cocoa-Cola Party
On Wednesday morning, June
25th, Miss Marilyn Fussell, bride
elect, was entertained by Mrs. W.
Harrell Everett at her home with
a cocoa cola party.
The hostess greeted the honoree
and guests and invited them into
the lovely decorated dining room
where refreshments consisting of
nuts, sandwiches and cocoa-colas
were served.
Miss Fussell was presented a
lovely corsage of gardenias by the
hostess and a gift of her chosen
pattern of china.
Miscellaneous Shower
On Thursday afternoon, June
26th, Mrs. Dillon Cobb, Mrs. W.
H. Everett and Mrs. T. F. Daven
port, Jr., entertained Miss Marilyn
Fussell, June bride-elect, at a
floating miscellaneous shower at
the home of Mrs. Cobb.
The guests were greeted by the
honoree and the hostesses. Miss

Mrs. John Wier, Jr., entertained
at a lawn party at her home in
Martin Heights last Thursday
night, honoring her house guest,
Mrs. J. D. Adams of Fayetteville,
who is visiting her for two weeks.
A delicious barbecue dinner

guests, and a few friends by the
brides elects' parents, Mr. and
Mrs. F. L. Fussell.

bert Edward Sheppard, Sr., of
Washington, N. C., Saturday, June
29 at 8:00 o'clock P. M. The tra
ditional double ring ceremony
was performed bv the Kev. R E.
Walston.
Vows were spoken before an
altar of greenery with floor stan
dards of white gladioli and
branched candelabrum with light
ed white tapers.
Prior to the ceremony a pro
gram of nuptial music was rend
ered by Miss France. Smith, pi
anist, cousin of the bridegroom
and Mrs Leon Fox, vocalist. Mrs
Fox sang "O Promise Me" and
"Because."
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She was love
ly in her summer gown of sheer
white organdy over taffeta. The
basque waist featured a low scal
loped neckline with long sleeves
ending in calla points over the
hands and the full bouffant skirt
was ankle length. Her bracelet
length veil of imported bridal il
lusion was arranged from a half
hat of petit ruching with side
clusters of pearlized orange blos
soms. She carried a white Bible
topped with a white purple
throated orchid.
Mrs. Frank S. Weaver attended
her sister as matron of honor.
Brdesmaids were Mrs Nathaniel
Jones of Winston-Salem, sister of
the bridegroom and Miss Mary
Jane Rogerson, both wearing pink
gowns and Miss Patricia Taylor
wearing an aqua gown. Little
Miss Jackie Reddick of Norfolk,
niece of the bride, was flower girl
and wore yellow organdy.
The bride's attendants wore
identical gowns designed like that
of the bride. They wore bandeaux
and mitts of organdy matching
their costumes. They carried col
onial nosegays of mixed summer
flowers
Hubert Jarvis, Jr., of Washing
ton was best man to Mr. Shep
pard. Ushers were Nathaniel
Jones of Winston-Salem and
Adrian Swicegood of Washington
Mrs. Andrews, chose for her
daughter's wedding a dress of
Navy blue crepe with white ac
cessories and a corsage of white
carnations. Mrs. Sheppard wore
a white printed nylon dress with
white accessories and a corsage of
white carnations Mrs. W 11. Bak
er, grandmother of the bride
groom, chose for the wedding a

Following the ceremony the
I couple left for a wedding trip to
| New York. For travel the bride
changed into a navy blue sheer
dress with white accessories and
the white orchid lifted from her
bridal boquet.
Mrs. Sheppard, graduated from
Wiiliamston High School in the
class of 1952. Mr. Sheppard, a
graduate of Oak Ridge Military
School in 1946, is now employed
by the Norfolk & Southern Rail
road Co.
After their honeymoon the
couple will live in Washington.
Rehearsal Party
Following the rehearsal in Wii
liamston Friday night, Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Sheppard, parents of
the bridegroom, entertained the
wedding party, relatives and close
; friends of the couple at a rehears
al party and cake cutting at their
j home 604 E. Sixth St. in Washing
j ton.
The home, thrown en suite, was
beautifully decorated with a pro
fusion of summer flowers featur
ing gladioli and daisies.
At one end of the white lace
covered dining table was the love
ly three-tiered wedding cake rest
ing on a mirrored plaque sur
rounded by ivy The cake was
sprinkled with white sugar roses
and topped by a miniature bride
and bridegroom. At the opposite
end of the table Mrs Carl Swice
good poured punch from a crystal
service
After the bride and groom cut
the cake, Mrs. W. H. Baker served
the guests.
Mints and salted nuts were
! served from the table.
Approximately 50 guests at
tended the pre-nuptial event.
