Braves Take Over ! , First Place Alter Pair Of Victories Both Caines Are High Seor iug Affairs At 11-10 And 12 to 9 Winning two games /rom the Rnbersonvilie Rams during the week-end, the Wiliiamston Braves took over first place from the Robersonville team which now is in second place. Both contests; were of the high-scoring variety, i the Saturday night decision being! 11- 10 and the Sunday game by 12- 9. Although the scores were high er than could be considered aver age, there were no really big in nings in either game except in the Saturday night battle when the Rams counted seven times in the seventh inning to take a tempor ary lead at 9-6. George Keel and Virgil Wob bleton hurled the Braves to vie tory Saturday night. Keei pitch- j ed six innings, was relieved b\ | Jonah M. Stalls who only went part of an inning a.nd Virgil Wob- ‘ bleton finished the game. Ben Stevenson pitched the first four innings for Robersonville, was relieved by Johnny Ross who pitched one inning and a half and James Stalls finished the game, j Stanley Whrte was the hero of the night, turning in the winning | runs. The score was !)-9, the last of the 3th. White went in to pinch hit for Harrison, got a double to bring in two runs and move the, score to 11-9 Robersonville came up in the 9th to make One run be fore losing the ball game, 11-10. Sunday afternoon at Roberson ville Bill Williford and Virgil Wobbleton pitched the Braves toi victory. Williford was leading 5-4 in the 6th when a ball was hit straight back to him, which he tried to catch with his naked hand, hurt it hadiy and had to be relieved by Wobbleton who fin ished the game. Ben Scott, Grady Moore and Jiinrw Stalls handled the hurling for the Rams. Thesi two games dropped Rob erson vi lie from first place to sec ond and pulled William.-ton up to first place in the league, leading' by 1 1 2 games. Turner Leggett and Hack Gay lord gre to attend a league meet nig in Greenville Wednesday night. The results of the meeting and the standings of all the teams will be- published in Thursday's issue of The Enterprise.
