ORGANIZATION WILL WIN Back up the American. Cotton As sociation. This great organization is the only -association taking concert ed action to help the cotton farmer and those interested in cotton. It is apparent to every thinking man that the bearish elements are trying to hammer down the prices. They are working the same old game of run ning the price down so that they can buy in cheap and then when the world realizes that cotton is scarce, -cotton will go up again. The American Cotton Association is in the fight to prevent this game of trimming the farmer. You should back it up to the limit. Every cotton interest in the South should stand squarely behind this Cotton Associa tion, which is the greatest thing or ganized in the South since the Civil War. With the full aid and coopera tionof cotton interests it will break the strangle bold of the speculative elements and will see that the pro ducers receive a just and fair re turn. Every local branch of the Ameri can Cotton Association should have 100 per cent membership. If you are not already a member join your local branch today. Get into the fight and back up these big men who are using their best efforts, their brains and their time, to see that you get a legitimate price for your cot ton. Get behind the movement help save the county. Thirty years ago today Francis E. Warren was Inaugurated r first state governor of Wyoming. Boston will entertain the women's national indoor tennis championship tournament next March. ' The International Joint Commis sion began a hearing at Toronto to day on the project for the St. Law rence deep- waterway outlet from te Great Lakes. Many noted educators assembled today at Ann Arbor for the inaugu ration of Dr. Mrion Leroy Burton as president Of the University . of Michigan.' : " :.. - '. .-''A. m.. - V . Iflti'' I I'm i ' 'n " i iiiii' T'iiii- r Mmm THE LOCATION OF INDUSTRIE:. The first problem (n-'any. compre hensive plan for growth of a city or town, is commonly to decide in whajt locations factories should id future be built. . City planning boards com monly "get out maps of the place, and indicate a number of tracts -which in their opinion are suitable for factory use. A failure to locate manufactur ing industries suitably, has a most unfavorable development on growth of a town. ' The secretary of the chamber of commerce in a growing city that has thus plotted btlt on a. map its future development, was asked how they could force people to follow such a plan. "Community pressure does it all right," he said. "If a man wants to build a factory hare, we show Mm where he would best locate, and we urge landowners elsewhere jot to let him have land for that purpose. So Residence neighborhoods in many cities are spoiled by undesirable fac tory locations. Residents who take pride in their places, are driven out by coal smoke and other conditions. Building a factory in a district al ready crowded usually means that slum conditions develop, as the re sult of drawing in a lot more people than can live there comfortably. City planning boards usually urge manufacturing industries to locate a little out of thickly settled centers. Thus a factory district may become a pretty suburb, instead of a con gested slum. Also if factories can be located near a railroad line it saves cost of hauling and tearing up of streets by heavy trucks. Every growing town, and this ap BEST FOR HOME SHINES Vfr THE BIG VALUE PACKAGES PASTES AND LIQUIDS A Warm Dress No more cold trips to the basement. No more dressing in a cold room.
