"wometTsIhould Tregister. " There has never been a time when the women of the south have failed in a single duty, nor will they in re gard to registration when the matter is thoroughly explained to them. They did not want the suffrage, at least most of them did not, and now they feel as though they were treading on forbidden ground to attempt to as sume the prerogative that recently was for man alone. Yesterday a lady, who had no de sire to vote, but realizing it her duty now that the law (had given her the right, was very forceful in he,r desire for all other women to take the niat ter seriously and to do their duty by registering during this, the last week. Suggesting that many are unaware of the importance of women exercis ing the right of suffrage this year, this lady desired The Southerner to request that committees be formed to call upon all the women in Tar boro, and vicinity, and acquaint them of the need for their registration and to register them in their homes with out asking them to come to the pre cincts. Mr. Don Gilliam, chairman of the Edgecombe County Democratic Ex ecutive Committee, states that he has appointed such committees who have assured him they will call upon the women during the week with the reg istration books and be prepared to explain the situation to them. This, then, covers the point of con venience and especially gives the wo men .an opportunity of discussing the matter individually, which is, we have been assured, all that is needed for the women of Edgacombe county to " fall in line and perform a duty that is earnestly urged. ; Entertainment to Bridal Party. Miss Eloise Wiggins will entertain the bridal party at her home tonight to which a number of invited guests will also attend. Details . of the evening's pleasure have not been announced, but it is stated that the affair will be quite a pretty event. Mr. Don Gilliam is moving into Us new and attractive home today.
