This movement in Washington and v Beaufort 'county has received the sympathy and support of the best ( In Goldsboro practically the same thing was done last week. The lead ing business and professional men of that city gave words of cheer, to the farmers of Wayne county and promised .them their support and in tiorsement. , Similar action on the part of the many towns lrt the aast has been tak en recently and it shows to the out- Side world that the town folks are Willing to back the producers in their honest efforts to improve their con- i ditions on the farms. . Tho the rain caused' much .disap-; ..fj-j-rt a'l over thar eonnty hvfore -r t' i postponement of the County- ; Commencement, the Southerner has, 1 been struck most forcibly what a few I hustling men in a town can do when 1 they make up their minds. j The Southerner is not cognizant of any occasion in the county that has ever had behind it so much push and vim as was put behind the Coun ty Commencement, and had it not been for the rain on Friday of last week, there would have been more people in town that day than has ; ever been here before, with the e i t And why this splendid success? ' -. There is only one reason for it. 1 Just a few men got busy all at once and went to work in an orderly, sys tematic manner. And when they got started they pulled together as one man without a hitch or a jar. These few men set the goal and went 10 it. They did not know what failure meant. They have never had a doubt but what they would succeed. Fear and trembling and doubt were not in their category. These men in their work for the 1 County Commencement have set an example what can be done by Tarbo ro people if they only want to do.
