Auggust The citizens of Wiustou-Saleiil, with characteristic civic pride and with unbounded aumirauou for the men who wore the gray, are making extensive and elab orate preparations for the annual meeting of the North Carolina division of the United Confeder ate Veterans on the 7th and 8th of August. It is a well-known fact that the people of Winston Salem never do things in a half way style. The invitation to again visit Winston-Salem was extend ed in that spirit of loyalty to the veterans which lias ever charac terized the people, and now that the invitation has been accepted and inarch in sr orders have been issued, the boys of '01 will be re ceived with open arms and glad hearts by men, women and chil dren. Committees are at work pre paring comfortable sleeping quar ters, as well as places where good things to eat. and drink may be found in abundance. There will 1k something doing all the time. Don't deprive us of the rVnsnre of being at your service orirp more. tees of the College has just had a very iportant session respect liug the new gymnasium, the con templated changes and additions to the West Dormitory, and the perfection of arrangements for the club-house for men and the Girl's Hall for young women Kvery member of the Board was l-esent and careful consideration was given each detail. The new rmnasium will begin shortly and be rcadv in the fall. The West Dormitory gymnasium and other changes therein will be ready by the opening. Excellent arrangements for the club and Girl's Hall have been: made. Dr. J. O. Atkinson, of the chair of Economics, is busily engaged, during the vacation season, in the cudcavor to establish a publish ing house here. Dr. Atkinson has recently been in Virginia pushing his enterprise with great success. ' The Graded School Board have djectded to erect an eight-room two-storv brick building here to have it ready by October the first. The building will cost six thous and dollars and will be a credit to the district. 1 The College has just issued a unique publication.
