J HOW IT'S MADE ANTI-FLY LITERATURE "Where to Get Something yothing For For the next three or four months we will hold our annual wide-open season for flies. For the last two months the flies have 'just been getting a real good start. I nfortunately, there pas never 'been a census taken ' of the fly population of this State, but cit izens in a position to judge affirm that their personal observations indicate that during the last five years and particularly during the last two, his Satanic Majesty, the Filth Fly, has been diminishing in quantity. This is by no means universally true. In more or lesa backward, unenlightened commit fnities there are as many, if not more flies, than there were ten years, ago. It is getting so now that one can tell a modern, pro gressive town, one in which to live, by the number of flies, and the number of screen doors and windows, better than you cau from chamber cf commerce , re ports or clearing house returns. Travelers size up desirable Ho tels, proKerous business houses ana clean private residences by. the screen doors and flies almost instantly. "' ' Now, the question is : lias your town awakened, has your commu nity awakened, ana nave you a wakened fully to the fly question? If you haven't or if you want to wake them up a little more, the State Board of Health will help you turn the trick. .The board lias several kinds, of leaflets and bulletins on flies, also large il lustrated placards or posters a gainst flies. If ypu will see to it that the literature is distribut ed or that the placards are post ed, they will be sent free or charge. . Just state the number you can use and send, a postal to-day. Don't go through life with the pop valve blowing off all the time. It pays to reduce the pres sure whenever you can. In oth er words, after a period of severe, mental and physical tension, take a little rest. You will be surprised to find the benefits you will get from ev en a few minutes of complete re laxation. The trouble is that so few people really know how . to rest. , . ' . RUB-r.lY-TISr.1 'Will cure your Rheumatism Neuralgia, Headaches. Cramps. Yoora to Serve, niTJIIITE 8 CO Thone 64 120-122 Poindexter THE LIGHT TOUCH TYPEWRITER A great many, claims are made about the "light touch" of tjipe writers. This is something any one can test. Take a rod of steel or iron, just heavy enough to press a key down and make a printed impression; " Let it rest on a key and the let it drop, slid ing through the fingers. You wil find that a weight heavy enough to print clearly on the L. C Smith & Brothers typewriter wil not print at all on other type writers, and that it requires one quarter to one-half ounce more weight to accomplish the same result; Multiply tnis quarter of ' an ounce by tne number of strokes the average operator makes in writing a, letter and multiply this result by the number of letters written and then multiply that by the number of working days in ayear, and you get some idea of how much manual effort alone . Is saved by the L. C. Smith & Bros, typewriter. HERBERT PEELE Act. Elizabeth City, N: C.
