C, June 6th Primary results trickle in slowly. Actual fig ures on which to calculate majori ties are lacking, for most of the re ports that come to Raleigh merely state that this candidate or that, has carried a certain county by ao much. The State Board of Elec tions mc?tg here tomorrow to can vass the votes and definite informa tion will begin to circulate. At the present-writing it still at pears that Bickett's majority will exceed 25,000, that Lacy has been elected state t treasurer that J. Bryan Grimes has been nominated in the first primary by rot less than 10 000 majority, that Shipman, Lec, Yoi-ng and Graham are easy win ners. Sixty-five count! s have reported their vote for governor and the manngera of the Daughtrldg? cam paign ndmit defeat. Bickett's man ager, R. B. White, of Loulsburg, claims that Blckett has carried 67 . counties, out of 72 heard from at Loulsburg headquarters. Continued On Back Page CHEER COMMERCE E.UKING PLANS FOR GOOD WILL DAY A meeting of the Directors of the Chamber of Commerce was held in Mr. Pugh's office Monday afternoon for the express purpose of making definite arrangements for the Good Will B-jy celabratipn. The Chamber of Commerce is deteimlnd that the people who will be here on that day shall be highly- entertained and the diffrsnt committees are getting to wo k promptly on their respective mat ers. One of the Committee hnve fone to Newport News to do everything possible to arrange for a flylr.g machine to come here from the Curtis Aviation School at that point. We realize fully that an aeroplane flight would be a great at traction, Sevi ral more good will trips were planned and will be carried out dur ing the next few weks. The people in the places vi i'ed so far are show Ing a great deal of interest vln the invitation extended them to come to Elizabeth City on the Fourth and a large crowd is expected. There wl'l be a base ball game in the afternoon between Elizabeth City and Plymouth, and the Norfolk Southern has been asked ti jut on a rpecial rtain from Plymouth, leav ing there about seven o'clock on the morning of, July 4th, and on the return trip leaving here about six or seven o'clock. Loftin, Pastor of Blaekwell Memorial Baptis Church, will perofrm the ceremony, and gifts from a number of merchants have already been announced for the Good Will Day bride, one of these being a set of silver knives and forks from Mr. H. C. Bright, Jew eler. Mr. J. P. Kramer will con tribute a complete set of plans for the home of the couple. DEFEATED CANDIDATE SHOOTS OPPONENTS ALLY AND FRIEND r Camden County Primary Leads To Bitterness and Bloodshed As a result of bitter feeling en gendered during the primary cam paign in the race for Sheriff in Camden, C. S. Williams, defeated candidate for that office yesterday evening shot down on the porch of his store at South Mills Charlie Hodges, political ally and friend of John Mitchell, Sheriff and success ful candidate for re-nominatlon. The ball entered and passed through Hodge's left shoulder. Ills physician stated at nine o'clock last night that his wound is not ne cesssarily ' serious. GUARANTORS MEET THURSDAY NIGHT 4. meeting of Chautauqua guaran tors will be held Thursday night at eight p. m. in the Court House. Guarantors holding tickets are ex pected to come up and account for them thon or expect to have the tickets they hold charged to their accounts. TO HAVE AEROPLANE FLIGHT A committee of members of the Chamber of Commerce left Tuesday for Newport News to make arrange ments for an aeroplane flight here on Good Will Day, July the fourth. Mr. Nat Meeklns formerly of this city but for the last five years of San Antonio, Texas is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. 17T&. Meeklns on West Main street. He is accom panied by his wife and his son, John Carroll. Mr. and Mrs. LticoIn Goodman of New York are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cam Mellck on Matthews Street for a few days. Mrs. P. W. Melick has returned from Red Springs where she has been spending stime time with her daughter, Mrs. Vlcjie. COULD GRANDY DEFEAT REIDT A careful scrutiny of the .primary returns as given in Tuesday's paper will show a discrepancy. The statement is made that Sheriff Reld leads the ticket while the actual re turns show that N. G. Grandy ' got 64 votes mdre than Reld. The story was written before the vote for Commissioners had come In and the contradiction was overlooked. TO THE PEOPLE OF ELIZABETH CITY! Pursuant to the report of the Health officer at the meeting of the Board of Aldermen Monday after, noon, June 6th, the Board advised the City Manager to issue a warn ing to all persons using city water for drinking purposes to boil same before using as report on analysis of water shows pollution.
