As to the work which he is now preparing to take up in Pasquotank county. Dr. Owen has this to say to readers of The Advance: ''No doubt you know-of-the work which the Federal Department of Agriculture has been conducting in North Carolina during the past two years in an effort to help the far mers save trleir hogs from that most costly of all animal d'sease, Hog Cholera. "Sonie few weeks ago it appeared that this work would be dlscontinu ed altogether in North Carolina, but we are now glad to state that it will not only be continued, but we will be permitted to concentrate our efforts to the six extreme north eastern counties of the state, by which we can do niore intensive work, an,j as we believe, secure much better resuls. "In this new work .efforts will he not only to control cholera by means of the anti-hog cholera ser um, which at its best lg but a tem porary expedient that will save on ly that particular lot ' hogs that are vaccinated, or inoculated, but it is hoped that the disease can be so controlled by sanitary measures that the expense of vaccinations and inoculations can be done away with t0 some extent. "In the past two years the great est results and best responses to our work have been in these six northeastern counties, an,j so in Piitiiiin; tltis n"v campaign, it was felt that hcr(! the work should be first taken ur.
