PURELY PERSONAL Chief of Police Davis vent to Golds- Itoro Friday to appear as a witness in a railroad mdk. Prof. J. W. Portls, of Buie's Creek, was in the city for several dajs last Week, on a visit to his old home and friends. Mrs. X J.- Hales, of Wilson, was the guest of Mrs. Geo. Hale 6, in the city Sunday. Mr. J. L. Home, Jr., was hoae from Trinity College for a few days last week. Mr. Perry Jenkins and family, of Shiloh, were here Friday to attend the funeral of Mr. Jenkins' mother, Mrs. Sam Jenkins. Miss Otis Howell, of Hollands,l.Va., is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. E. H. Crews, in the city. Miss Miriam Boyd, of Wilson, was a visitor in the city last week. Misses Minnie Garriss and Annie Morris have returned to their home in Wilson, after a visit in the city. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Gatlin, of Tar boro, werh in the city last week to at tend the funeral of Mrs. Samuel Jenk ins, who was Mrs. Gatlin's sister. Mrs. Minton, of Portsmouth, Va., is visiting her son, Mr. E. L. Minton, in the city. Mrs. J. T. Branch and Miss Theresa Branch, of Norfolk, Va., are guests of Mrs. J. H. Beddingfield, in the city. • Dr. H. B. Marriott, of Battleboro, was in the city Saturday. Mr. J l . F. Cooley, of Spring Hope, spent Monday in the city. Miss Eulala Perkins, of Hamilton, is visiting Miss Marie Burnette, in the city. Mrs. Harry Abram, of Goldsboro, is visiting in the city. Miss Maria Burgess and Miss Fannie Shaw left Tuesday to spend several days with friends in Tampa, Fla. Senator T. T. Thorne and Representa tive P. C.
