In this section of THE HIGHLANDER we can do little more than meiely mention these points of interest. j However, the visitor can secure further information from the j CHAMBER OF COMMERCE of fice in the Bank Building. Next week’s paper will take up these scenic points more in detail. If you will see all of our sights, you must visit: Highlands Falls, Whiteside Mountain, Primeval For est, Sunrise View, Sunset Rocks, Satulah Mountain, Bearpen Moun tain, Dry Falls, the famous Robert Ripley ‘‘Believe It Or Not'' Bridal Veil Falls, Cullasaja Gorge, the abandoned Gold Mine out Horse cove Road, and the numerous lakes and vistas in and around High lands. Highlands is a progressive com munity. It aims to make all visi tors comfortable at all times. It aims to show our friends from other States that here is the ideal vacation spot of Eastern America. No other town in this section is^as high as Highlands. And situated as it is, twenty miles from the nearest railroad, its visitors are not smothered with the , grime and smoke of trains; nor are they awakened at wee small hours dur ing the night with the infernal screeching of trains going off into the distant night. Come to Highlands. Visit us, and you will come to stay. ***************&******** Keowee Courier Quality Job Printing »» Prices Reasonable »» Walhalla, S. C. it Tuberculosis Survey To Be Conducted The North Carolina State board cf health has arranged for a tu berculosis survey to be conducted in Macon County. The clinics will be held on Au gust 6 and 7 at the county health department in the Higdon Build-, ing, Franklin. Dr. Denholm will conduct these clinics; he is con nected with the State health de partment. The hours for the clinics on the two days above mentioned will be from 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. on the first day, which is Friday ;and 8:30 a. m, to 12:00 noon on the •second day, or Saturday. All those persons who have been exposed or diagnosed as having had or are having tuberculosis are urgently asked to attend the ses sions of the clinics. Tuberculosis is a dreaded dis ease, and strikes many times where one does not look for it to do so. Let’s do our part to eradi cate it from our midst. If all the hot dogs consumed on a summer Sunday were laid end it would make a lot of bo logna. The two things that make hus band and wife one in spirit are having a baby and hating the same relatives. o-o Another reason why people are not interested in what you say is because you are not interested yourself. o-o The man who keeps his nose to the grindstone also usually man ages to keep it out of other peoples business. o-—o Nothing can be made to sound more profane than the way some fellows honk an auto horn. o-o NO CHANGE “A husband like yours must have been hard to find.” “He still is.” o-o “There was a time when people used to say I had more money than brains. They can't say that any more.” * «Why not?” “Because I'm down to my last dime.” “Yes, but you've got the dime.”
