Frank Bloxham The Church, in spite of its di visions today, exists to bear wit ness to the Life and teaching of Jesus Christ. There are three questions to which men have al ways tried to find answers, and to them the Church gives the answers which it has learned from its Founder. I. What is God like ? What lies behind the mystery of life and death, joy and suffer ing, progress and reaction? Some men have imagined that there is only a blind force, others have talked of an Infinite Being, others have imagined a -relentless fate. The Church has learned from Christ that God is love, and that we can see Him in Jesus Christ. “He that hath seen Me hath seen, the Father.” II. -The second question concerns the individual. Are we just bodies with a physical life tp be lived in this world, with pleasure as the best thing we know, or are we really spiritual beings with a love of self-sacrifice and beauty and goodness? Are we right in believ ing that this life is not all, but Tricemont * Terrace.. Top O’ The Town J. Harvey Trice, Mgr. The Church has learn** ed its answer from Jesus Christ Who taught that man is a spirit ual being, created in order that he may know and love God in life and in the life to come. III. The third Question relates to the common life of nunkind. Is Strife and competition and war the natural condition in which men must live, or is there a possibility of fellowshp and brotherhood and progress which shall lead to peace? Jesus Christ taught that the Fatherhood of Gcd was a fact and that men are brothers because they are God's children. These facts did not die with the j crucifixion of Christ. The remark able fact is that ever since He lived and died we have had follow ers who have tried to give the same answers and have proved that they are true, because they have learned from Him. In the midst of all the upheaval and the uncertainty caused by it in the world today, the Church stands as a v/itneFS that Jesus Christ is the way trough our perplexities; the truth in whom our doubts are sat isfied; and the life for which we are vainly searching.
