We publish from ihe New York Tribune the following editorini which seems to us in ihe attempt to excite bsd feeling between the North and the South, to excel in fiend ishrtess, the spirit of the man who lias ent but one human being from the earth, while its own language is calculated to ex cite into animosity two great sections of th Union, and cause infinitely greater des truction and injury. "One of these brutal murders which seem peculiarly to belong to the institution of Slavery, took place yesterday at the St. Nicholas Hotel. In the free States, men -above the condition of rowdies do not ha bitually go armed like assassins ; importa tions from the regions bf chivalry, howev er,, reveal occasional bowie knives, sword canes, and pistols. In the present instance, a man claiming to be a gentleman, R. .M. Graham, of New Orleans, had a murder ous weapon a sword-cane and on being reprimanded for his drunken noise in the St. Nicholas Hotel, mbbed Mr. Loringtrf California, through the bodj-, a:id killed him. This barbarous murder could hardly have been committed by a northern man. It is the product of Slavery of that sys tem thus described by Jefferson in his ATtfex on Virginia, when he says 'hat. 'The who4c commerce between master and slave " is a perpetual exercise of the most boiste rous : the most unremitting despotism on " the one part, and degrading submission "on the other. The man must be u pro "digy who can re'.ain his manners and morals undepraved by such circum- stances." The murderer was not a prodigy, neith er his manners nor his morals were unde praved, and his boisterous passions result ed in the brutal murder, which has shock cd this community.' - The person who has been guilty of ibis great outrage is not, and never ha3 been, so we are assured, a slaveholder. He was sent at the expense of his uncle, who own d die famous Harrodsburg Springs, from Kentucky to New Orleans. He married Miss Waterbury, daughter of a retired sea captain, living at New Bedford, and niece of Captain Marshall, of this city. The sons of this worthy aentleman established themselves in business in New Orleans ; and we learn that the prisoner was always subjected to Northern social influences The parties lived together. His wife was At the St. Nicholas with him. We learn a'.so that the prisoner, owing to the violence which intoxication produces, has refrained from hquor on several occasions, and before his departure from New Orleans, hnd not Irank any for a year or more Here he drank, and became intoxicated and violent. Knowing, as he did, tin effect of intoxica tion upou bim, he is fully responsible for whatever act he committed in that stale. He was a wrong-doer from the beginning. And having provoked Col. Loring to do -what was done, ought not to be allowed 10 avail himself of it to justify his killing Col. Loring. But it is not with the. enor mities of the case that we have to remark, but with the improper use of the matter matt by the Tribune. The Editors of the Tribune denied a few days ago, that ihey had met together, to consult w'hether or not to support a dis solution of the Union. Such a meeting would foe whollv unnecessary, inasmuch S the paper is conducted with this evident object. an XrrantTmposter A most daring imposter, calling himself the Russiaa Count Nesselode, has been swindling the good people of Louisiana in a most astounding manner. He pretended that he had letters from Gen. Pierce to Gov Herbert. Recommended by these, he introduced himself on the best plantations, ven to the Governor's house. He was finally found out, but not until after be had flayed his games quite exleiively upon jH bis hosts, and especially upon livery table keepers. It would apper that be bad been equally successful with his villainy all along the Missippi as far as St Louis. Not Joog since, an Eastern man, while on his way to Boston, was stopped on the highway by a robber, and requested to hand over his money, or have his brains blown out. " Oh," said the trav eller, quietly, " blow away, blow away ! it'a better to go to Boston without brains than without money; PRINTS. Hav ing witnessed the most beneficial effects from the use of your Sarsaparilla, it gives me pleasure to send vou the following statement in regard to my son. In ihe spring of 18i8 he took a severe cold, and after eight weeks of severe suffering the dis ease settled in his left h'g and foot, which soon swelled to the utmost. The swelling was lanced bv his physician, and discharged most profusely; after that no less than clevt n ulcers formed on the lea and foot at on-.- time. Wehad fivedifferent Phy sicians, but none relieved him murh ; and the last winter found him so emaciated nnd low that he was unable to leave fii ' ed, suffering the most excrucia ting pain. Dunne this time the bone had become so much oflected that piece after piece came out, of which he has now more than twenty-five preserved in a bottle, varying from one half to one and n half inches in length. We had given up all hopes of his recovery, butat this lime we were induced to try your Sarsaparilla, and with its use his health and appetite began immediately to improve, and so rap id was the change that less than a dozen bottles ef fected a perfect cure. With gratitude, I remaintrnly yours, DARIUS BALLARD. We the undersigned neighbors of Mr. Ballard, cheerfully subscribe to the facts of the abovesfale ment. H. R. S. Hayt, A.M.Trowbridge, Geo.T. SWAYNE: Dear Sir Believing it a duty owe to the public, and in justice to you, 1 have thought proper to make known one of the most extraordinary cures, in my own case, that has ever been truly recorded. In ihe month ol October last, I was afflicted" with a severe gather ing in my breast, which formed a la rye abscess, and also communicated to my lungs and very much afflicted them, and discharged large quan tities of corruption, external and internal. My breath could also pass through my lungs and out ihroueh the cavity of mv breast with apparent ease, attended with a violent cough day and night, loss of appetite, and extreme debility, so that my physicians thought my ease extremely hopeless and beyond the power ol medicine. I remained in this wretched condition for a Ions time, until I was wasted to a mere skeleton, and there seemed to be no hope for me, but. having read in the pub lie papers of the many wonderful cures performed by your COMPOUND SYRUP OF WILD CH ERRY, I immediately sent to Baltimore for five bottles and commenced its use, and, to my grenl sattslaction and thut of my anxious lamily the abscess or opening in my lunss began to heal. and ihe cuirM subsided, nnd on using ten bottles I was restored to perfect health. I feel very grale lui, nnd firmly believe th it in your medicine, un der tjic blessings of Divine Providence, I am in debted for thisgreat change, and tun happy to say that I am now enjoying a? good health as 1 ever have.
