THE DEPOSITION OF BISHOP DOANE'S SOS. It was stated that Bishop Doane, of New Jersey, had deposed his own son from the E- piscopal ministry for joining the Roman Catholic Church. The following is the sentence of the bishop: "To all, everywhere, who are in commu nion with the one Holy Catholic and Apos tolic Church: tie it known that George Hobart Doane, M. D., Deacon of the Dio cese, having declared to me in writting his renunciation of the ministry, which he re ceived at my hands from the Lord Jesus Christ, and his design not to officiate in fu ture m any of the offices thereof, intending to submit, himself to the schismatical Ro man intrusion, is deposed trom the minis try; and I hereby pronounce and declare him to be deposed,' in : the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." ' . The deposition is given at the Episcopal residencej Riverside, on the 15th of Septem ' ber,- in the presence of Milo Mahan, D. U., and Marcus F. Hyde, A. COLLEGE FRACAS. A Boston correspondent of the Journal of Commerce writes : We hear of a disturbance among the students of Dartmouth College. It is said to have occurred in this wise : Several Sophomores, not having the fear of the con sequences before their eyes, painted the seats of the Freshmen's recitation room. The freshmen retaliated by greasing the seats of ihe Sophs. The last now broke into a r resnman s room, ana snavea oa his hair close to bis head. Tbey tegarded him as a leader in the grease movement, but he was not. Of course, the mischievous Sophomores were called up before the Qo, lege authorities, and at the latest accounts twenty of them were likely to be expelled. buch scenes were formerly common at Dartmouth And bwer colleges but for & number of years they fwve been rare. It is rumored that the leaders. of these outra ges nad a spur m meir neadsv and it was quite evident at Manchester that tie Maine Law had n6t made a temperate miITnium CENSORSHIP OF THE PRESS The Paris Moniteur publishes a notifica tion from the Minister , of the Interior, re minding the public hal no individual can lor ine purpose ot private pnnunr, have in his possession or employ, small presses, of whatever kind they may be, without a pre vious authorization from the Minister at Paris, or from the Prefects in the Depart ments. .Persons infringing this law wu be .liable to six months' imprisonment and 10,000 francs fine.
