Addreee all oomrannicatione to THE KOANOKE BEACON, Plymouth, N. O FARM LABOR. Don't Import Labor. Cotton Growers Have More Labor Now Than They Need. A great deal is being said lately about plans to import laborers for Southern farms, and somebody sug gested that the press should keep this question agitated, but the South ern editors will not do any such thing, if they know ihut is best for this section of the country. We have laborers enough now iu the South to keap the price of cotton down sev eral cents below what it should be. Iu order to make anything like ns much improvement and progress us justly ought to come to them as a reward for their labor farmers ought to have not less than fifteen cents a pound for cotton, and the only way to gee the price up to that joint is to decrease the production. . This cau't well be done if we imagine wo are short on labor aud begin to im port foreign labor to make more cot ton. There's already too much Jabor in competition with itself in the pro duction of cotton in the South. Jn- stewd of importing more we can spare some more laborers for the public works and not be hurt, but benefit-j ted by it. A limited amount of labor iu Seuthern cotton fields means pros perity for the whole South, but with too much labor it means lotf-jirice cotton and the inevitable stagnation of business that accompanies it. Let's stop this foolish talk about wanting more laborers in the cotton fields, for it means harder toil and less puy. for those who make cotton, and less business for the merchants and lees work for our manufacturing enterprises. With less labor Southern farmers will use labor-saving farming imple ments and will adopt the plan of ''fewer acres with a system of im provement." Fewer acres made more fertile and productive will give great er profits for the d-iy's labor. There fore, the search) of labor will help along toward a better and more prof itable system of farming, ana we will have improye fields cultivated by home owners instead of worn out Tbe children's jubilee of good health fol lows the use of BeeV Laxative Honey and Tar, 1bc cough syrup that expt In all cold from the system by acting mk a cathartic ou the bowels A Certain r mt-dy for Croup V hooping CYueh and all lung and bron chial affections.
