A Problem of Importance to the Farmers of Wash ington County. One of the greatest problems of the'State today is the market ing problem and this also applies to Washington County. Yet this can be gotten around with the proper cooperation of the farm ers in the county, and when the problem is solved it will be thru the cooperation of the farmers to a much greater extent than has ever been practised in th e past. Cooperation is the key note to successful farming in th e South, and it is very applicable to the farmers in this State and County as well as any other lo cality in the farming sections of the United States. The Washing ton County Board of Agriculture was organized for the purpose of aiding and assisting in the ad vancement of agriculture in this county, and to this end it is working today. The next meet ing of this board will be held in .Roper.on. P.'idiy Ai?j4t 4th, and at this meeting Mr. ' Wm. R. Camp, Chief of the Division of Markets, at West Raleigh, has consented to come down and talk to the farmers of a local cooper- Mr marketin g assooiation. Mr. C:.:n: is asry good talker and is rrsun of vide expirience in th':: marketing work, and can r':v . '.h i people of the county iocns very useful and valuable information on the marketing problem. And there are a, few things that will be necessary for the farmers of the county to do In connection with the sugges tions that Mr. Camp will offer. and that is, enough of them get together to organize an associa tion at the beginning, and start it off with some cooperating spirit and take hold of this prob lem at onoe. Without any exception all the ' farmers that I have asked to give me. in their opinion, the most important problem in the county of the farmers, and it has been successful'marketing. With the number of hogs going out of the county each fall and winter at a low price per pound dressed than many farmers get tor nogs on foot, and the low prices obtained for corn and so w pea3, if the farmers would cooperate togeth er in an association that Mr. Camp will talk to the farmers a bout, it would mean quite a neat sum in cash dollars to the farm ers of Washington County. It is not a question of some thing new and in the experimen tal stage to organize a market ine association in a county, but has proven very successful in many counties in this state where the farmers have taken hold of this proposition in the proper way. So let every farmer in the county that is interested in an organization of this kind come out to this meeting in Ro per on August 4th and give their aid and support to such an organization- If the products of the county that will be for sale can be successful iy sold thru such an organization, surely then tht farmers can likewise purchase such supplies that they have to buy annually to run their farms. Remember the time and place and let everyone come and bring well filled baskets for an all-day Picnic and meeting for the bene fit of the farmers of the county. -Several other speakers have been secured to make talks at this meeting.
