Norman of Buell, Va. in town this week He was here visiting his parents. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Norman, on, Main street. Mrs. W. F. Ausbon left Tues day for Hampton,-Va., where she went to take her daughter, Claudia, to the Dixie Hospital. Miss Claudia was operated upon for appendicitis Wednesday morning, and at last reports was doing as finely as could be ex pected. Mr. S. Katz, a well known merchant formerly of N. Y., has arrived in Plymouth and is opening a first-class dry goods store here near the hotel. He has been for the past several weeks in the Northern market-, where he purchased a large and complete stock for his store here, which will be known as the "Plymouth Bargain Store." There will be a pic-nic at Re hoboth Church in Skinnersville Township Wednesday, Sept. 20. Popular Washington Coun ty Young Man Weds Es timable Bertie Maid. A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Baptist Church Windsor, N. C, at high noon, Wednesday, September 16th, when Miss Bettie Sue Sewell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Sewell, became the bride of Mr. Edward Clinton Spruill, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Spruill of Creswell, this county. Under the skilled direction of Mesdames W. T. Tadlock, J. H. Tadlock, Sam Freeman and W. Hersey Davis, the church was beautitully and harmoniously decorated with palms and terns. The ceremony was performed by Kev. W. K. HaightotBel haven, and the music was ren dered by Mrs. 1. T. Smith of Rocky Mount. Just prior to the ceremony Mr. A. C. Mitchell sang "At Dawning." -Tne bride was given in mar riage by her cousin, Mr. W. T. Taulock. She was bewitching in a going-away suit of dark blue, with necessaries to match, and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley and Dnae's roses. Little Misses Lois and Mary Spruill, sisters of the groom, tne flower girls, wore pretty lingerie frocks of white with blue ribbons, and each carried a basket of roses. Little Miss Margaret Spruill, the ring bear er, carried the ring to the altar in a lily, and wore a pretty hn gerie frock of white with white ribbons. The Matron of Honor, Mrs. W. Hersey Davis of Louisville, Ky, wore her wedding dress and carried a bouquet of white Killarney roses tied with white tulle. Miss Edna Sewell, sister of the bride, acted as Maid of Honor, wore a gown of pink georgette crepe and carried a bouquet of pink Killarney. roses tied with pink tulle. The bride's maids, Misses Grace Tadlock, Louise Baggett, Inez Matthews and Annie Liz zie Uarnacascel of Muxl'reesboro, wore gowns of white organdy, with large, black picture hats and carried bouquets of pink asters tied with pinktulle. Mr. Joseph K. Reid of Plymouth, acted as best man. The ushers were Messers Fenton Reid and Linwood Hassell of Plymouth, Arthur Black Phelps and Jona than Stokes of Windsor. The bride was one of Bertie's most beautiful, talented and ac complished young ladies. At one time she served as a teacher, and in this endeavor she acquit ted herself most creditably. The groom is one of the most prominent young farmers of Washington County; is steady in his habits and is respected and admired by all who know him. Immediately after the cere- mony a luncneon oi a saiaa course and ices was served to the bridal party at the home of the bride's parents, after which the bride and groom motored to Kelford and boarded the North bound train for an extended wedding trip. They will make their future home near Creswell. The out-of-town guests were, Mrs. E. R, Spruill and daughter, Miss Mary, and son, Leon, of Creswell, Mrs. J. W. Tadlock and children of Norfolk, Miss Kathleen Spruill. Messers Fen ton and Jof eph Reid, Linwood Hassell, Edgar Latham and Emmett Blount of Plymouth, Mrs. Will Jessup and Henry Spruill of Quitsna, Mrs W. Her sey Davis of Louisville, Ky., and Rev. W. R.
