CP V THE ROANOKE BEACON C V. W. AUSBON Editor and Publi.her. c. S. AUSBON PUBUSHED EVERY FRIDAY. Plymouth, N. C, Friday, June 1st, 1917. Cherry School Closes With Patriotic Exercises. Cherry Graded School will close its fifth year's work on the evening of June 7th , 1917. The general feature of the program is patriotic. The school has had many ob stacles to overcome through the the past year. Never has there been known such an epidemic of contagious diseases in this com munity for the past winter; how ever with some energetic teach ers and patrons we have faced the problem and general work lor promotion of grades about completed. There is a question under consideration with our school board and patrons, of building an auditorium at the back of school building for the music department, and to be used for general exercises and enter tainments. This is a very im portant move, and we are con fident the County Board of Edu cation will come to our aid when same is presented on first Mon day in July. We are expecting Supt. Jno. W. Darden to be pres ent at our exercise and speak upon this subject. The program will begin promptly at 8 o'clock and each department will be represented in a patriotic way.
