MRS. A. E. CLARK DEAD.
- After a limrcn:.jr illness oil
several vcars, Mrs. Augusta
Evolino Clark entered into rest
at the Clark homesiead, Pante
go, N. C, at eight o'clock Tues
day morning, Sept. 18th, 1917.
The funeral was conducted from
the hjme by.her pastor, Rev. S.
A. Nettles of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, South, and
interment was made Wednesday
morning Sept. 19th in the family
plot on the shores of Pungo

, On April 3rd.. 1866 she was
married to Walter Clark of Beau
fort County, N. C, who clod on
July 31st. 1903. His father, Jos.
Banner Clark was Recording
Stewart of Hebron M . E. Church,
South, Pantego for thirty years.
He built a church and donated it
to the N. C. Conference, his son
succeeding him as Recording
Steward, which position he filled
until his death.
She joined the M. E. Church,
South, at Thomasville, N. C.
1885 and remained a consecrated
member all her life. She was a
graduate from Greensboro Fe
male College in 1861, and was a
member of the Missionery So
ciety of the Church.
She leaves ten grand-children
and the following neices and
nephews, all of Thomasville, N.
C., Mrs. Geo. H. Yew, Mrs. T.
R. Myers, Mrs. E. W. Dixon and
Messers. Frank S., John W., D.
T. and R. L. Lambeth.
WENONA NEWS.
The Pungo-Wenona baseball
team met and defeated the Gy
lord nine Saturday afternoui
with a score of eight to four.
Owing to the storm, however,
the game was not quite com pie
ed.
We are glad that there is at
last something to be seen of th
new school houfe as well as
heard, and hope this rainy weath
er will not delay the buildir-g.
An ice-cream supper, was held
at the Pungo school house JSat
day night, but few were able to
attend on account of the
weather.

cause of he illness of the latter's
father. ' They have not yet re
turned. Mrs. Lee Brewster and child
ren reached home Friday, after
a month's absence, during which
time they visited friends and
relatives in Ohio.

vacation.
Mrs. W. L. Furbee and son,
Howard, are spending their va
cation in West Virginia.
Miss Irene Pelson went to
Pantego Saturday, where she will
stay a few days.
Missc3 Blanche and Fannie
Harris left Monday to enter the
Pantego High School. Mr. Har
old Glover enrolled Wednesday.
