ending November 30, 1891 was $3,1919.
04 against $3,014.83 allowed by the old
board for the fiscal year beginning
Dec. 1, 1889, and ending November 30
1890, which shows a decrease in the

the commissioners not paid haavy law

86th BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATED.
Last Friday afternoon Mrs.
Fletcher Ausbon invited a num
ber of her friends to attend a
party in celebration of the eighty
sixth birthday of her mother,
Mrs. Pattie Johnston.
The party came as a suprise to
Mrs. Johnston, and she thought
it rather singular to have so many
guests in one afternoon, it not
occuring to her that her birthday
was that particular day.
A cako with the required num
ber of candles was placed on the
table, and each candle was light
ed by Master Ransom Martin,
great-gratid-son of Mrs. Johns
ton.
Mrs. Johnston was one of the
first graduates of St. Mary's
college, Raleigh. Those who at
tended the party follows:
Mesdames Emma Ashby, Sam
Beasley, Fred Knight, J. 0. Eve
rett, L. P. Hornthal; Sadie Ches
