The F'.y;i lived in a house ju .
beyond the A. 0. L. raihoi d
track on the Jarnesviiie road and
was owned by Eilis Lee.
The mother had left the chi'c
in the house alone ami had gone
into the field to take a cow, and
while away the house caught in e
from a defective chimney arm
was beyond saving when dis
covered. Quick and effective
work rendered by neighbors,
saved the house adjoining.
The feet of the child were
burned away, as were other parts
of its body, but, strange to say
some of its clothing remained al
most intact. The house was burn
ed to the ground and was only
a heap of embers when the body
was recovered from the flames
The unioitun-tle people lo ft
everything contained in the
house.
The alarm was turned in aiul
tne local fire company hastened
to the scene as quick.y as possi
ble. They were greatly hindered
in getting away from their quart
ers because of the fact that the
engine of the truck would not
start in the usual manner, and it
became nece. sary for the com
pany to push the truck down the
street until sufficient electricity
had be n generated to ignite the
gas.
