School Convention
Tne Sunday Schools of Washington
County Will Hold Convention In
Baptist Church Here April
16th and 17th.
Announcement is made of the
Washington County Sunday
School Convention for Sunday
School workers of all denomina
tions, which is to be held in the
Baptist Church. Plymouth, N. C
on Thursday and Friday, April
16 and 17, 1925 The convention
will open at 7:30 Thursday night
April 16, and there will be three
sessions on Friday, April 17,
morning, afternoon and night.
The committee in charge of the
arrangements for the convention
is composed of the following pro
minent Sunday School workers
of Plymouth, Rev. W. G. Lowe,
Rev. O. W. Sawyer, Rev. W. A.
Burroughs, and Rev. Theodore
Patrick, Jr.,
Outside speakers of the con
vention will be Mr, D. W. Sims,
General Superintendent North
Carolina Sunday School Associa
tion, Raleigh, and Miss Flora
Davis Raleigh, Raleigh, Associate
Superintendent of the same or
ganization. In addition to these
outside speakers, a number of
the county’s well known pastors
and Sunday School wo.kerswil!
take part in the various sessions
of the convention.
One interesting feature of the
convention will be the presenta
tion of a pennant to the Sunday
School having present in the con
vention the largest number of
representatives, sixteen years of
age and over, according to the
number of miles traveled. The
number of representatives from
each Sunday School will be mul-!
tiplied by the number of miles
from that Church to the Conven
tion Church, and the Sunday!
School having the largest total!
will receive the pennant. It is J

Elizabeth City
A marriage that has attracted
the attention of most everyooriy
in our community is that of Mr.
Herman H. [Spunk] Alexander
to Miss Mary Ellen Marshall,
which occured in Elizabeth City
last Sunday afternoon at one
o’clock
The marriage was the culmn -
ation of a brief ccur s ip, Miss
Marshall having visited friends
near here a short while ago.
Mr. Alexander left on the
Norfolk-Southern train for Nor
folk last Sunday morning and
was met at the station by the
bride-to-be with relatives. They
took, the next train for E. City
They arrived in Plymouth on
the midnight train, and upon
their arrival were met by a large
crowd of interested friends.
Alexander held a respon
sible position with the Pennsyl
vania railroad company in Nor
folk and is a gifted and talented
young lady. Mr. Alexander has
recently accepted a position here
as a clerk in the post office and
is well known throughout the
cor fjjp-i unity.
The beacon joins their nurae
rouf friends in wishing t^bem all
thefjoys and prospevty of a long
aneft-happy married life.
