C.- Miss Willie Blount daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Blount of Roper and Mr. James Blakney of Mathews, N. C. were married in the local Baptise Church Saturday, February 15th. at 10 A. M. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Burrows. Miss Blount was dressed in a blue ensemble with accessories to match and had as her maid of honor Miss Mary Woodley of Creswell N. C. William Roberts was best man and Garland Leary of Portsmouth, Josh Woodley of Creswell, Fred and Frances Blount of Newport News were the ushers. The bride was given in marriage by her father, W. A. Blount. Mrs. Blakney has been teaching in Ahoskie, but rendered her resig notion as the young married couple will make their home in Mathews BENEFIT TACKIE PARTY Members of the Ladies’ Aid Society of the Plymouth Christian Church held a benefit tackie party at the home of Mrs. G. W. Bowen last Tuesday evening. There were 70 guests present. Mrs. T. L. Allen won the prize for the tackiest lady and E. H. Liverman won the prize for the tackiest man. Mrs. Hilda Gurganus won the prize fyr eating pork and beans and Mrs. C. T. Robbins was the successful contes tant in a traveling contest. CELEBRATES BIRTADAY Dan Sattcrthwaite celebrated his 25th birthday at his home Sunday. Mr. Satterthwaite is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Satterthwaite and is foreman of the local Chevrolet garage.
