BUT 6 MARRIAGE
LICENSES ISSUED
--
November Marriages Show
Steady Decline in Past
Three Years
Taking marriage as an index to love
there seems to be a steady decline of
that virtue in Washington County. In
November, 1928, the register of deeds,
Mrs. Addie L. Brinkley, issued 13
marriage licenses, 7 to white and 6 to .
colored couples. For the same month
of 1929 there were nine licenses issued,
4 to whites and 5 to colored; while
in November of this year there were
only 6 permits written, 5 for white
and 1 for colored couples. There were
only 72 licenses issued during the
year from December 1, 1929, to Dec
ember 1. 1930.
Licenses were issued during the past
month to the following couples:
White
McCoy Davenport and Dorothy E.
Phelps: Howard Clifton and Edith
Phelps: John G. Woodley and Bessie
Williams; Theodore D. Ambrose and
Esther C. Furlough; Edward Skin
iu r and Mitlie Bayner.
Colored
William Taft Bowers and Emma L.
