Mrs. Ted Blount, who has recently returned from a seven-weeks trip to California, presented to each club member attractive flower containers. The refreshments were served in the dining room. Jack Owens: sponsor. Miss Margaret Martin. At Monday evening's meeting, held with Meredith Johnston, this club planned to sponsor Christmas Cheer barrels. The boys and girls are ask ing for wearing apparel and canned goods to be donated and to be turned over to the welfare committee of the P. T. A. for distribution among the needy. Barrels will be placed in the school building and packages which the pu pils bring will be dropped in them for the welfare committee. MRS. LLOYD OWENS ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs. Lloyd Owens was hostess to the Augustin Daly Club Thursday. Books were exchanged and new selected to be bought. Mrs. Ben Sumner will be hostess at the Christmas meeting to be held next week. A salad course was served. MRS. ROBT. R. BOWEN HOSTESS SATURDAY Mrs. Robert R. Mrs. Claudius McGowan read an interesting paper on the Battle of Chattanooga. A poem concerning Christopher Bland was read by Mrs. W. F. Winslow', and Mrs. Paul Brink ley read "The Greatest Man," a trib ute to Christ, by Phillips Brooks. Cream almond cake. ritz. olives and coffee were served. Christmas decorations were used. Each member took two gifts to the meeting to be sent to the 40 w'idows of Confederate soldiers who are in mates of a home in Fayetteville. MRS.
