Sports! ENTERTAINMENT [Movies 9 - - - Columnist Turns To Acting In Canova Film On Wednesday -* ‘Scatterbrain’ Also Features Matty Malneck and His Famous Orchestra -® "How do you like being an actor?" This question was put to Jimmy Starr who is one of the fast-talking report ers in "Scatterbrain," at the Plym outh Theatre on Monday. "Actor! Why, I couldn't act to save my life!” But as for giving the public a real interpretation of what newspaper re porters are really like, Starr thinks that he does that with gusto in the picture. He thinks some actors, playing the part of newspaper men, have given his hallowed profession a black eye. Actors usually play a newspaper man with a jug of whiskey under one arm, and nothing to do but sit around and tell jokes between drinks, ac cording to the columnist, "And we never touch a drop at least, not until our work is finished,” Starr affirmed. Starr has played a newspaper re porter in a number of pictures, his p LYMOUT THEATRE H “Plymouth7s Community Asset” THURSDAY - FRIDAY AUGUST 7 - 8 The Great American Motion Picture! For, not only will you find your self well provided with fast action, hard riding and motion as only “Hop along " seems to be able to deliver it— and Harry Sherman to porduce it— but the action takes place in what is perhaps one of the most exciting per iods in California's history. The per iod is the time, not so very long ago, when unscrupolous land dealers, re sorting to every trick and device in the pirate’s handbook, looked upon the huge estates of the Spanish dons who had been settled there since the Seventeenth Century, found it good, and calmly set about to wrest it from their rightful owners. In "Three Men From Texas,” Cas sidy, a Texas Ranger, is called upon by a community in California to come in and rid the region of these land pirates who are not above murder and kidnapping. Cassidy, it seems, cannot leave Texas, but his pal "Lucky" goes. “Lucky” gets himself into plenty of trouble in the process, including the losing of his heart to the beautiful daughter of a dispo sessed Spanish landowner, and it be comes necessary for “Hopalong” to ride not only to his rescue, but to clean up the land grabbing racket.
