Roper Group In Radio Broadcast Monday Mrs. Laura Johnston Miss Mary \ Lillian Campbell and Miss Joyce' Nowarali were guests at the weekly broadcast in Washington of a musi- j cal program by tire Roper quartet I Monday of this week. The same pro gram was presented at the Roper High School auditorium last Wednes day for the benefit of the Roper High School Band. The quartet is com posed of A1 Hooker. David Johnston, Sylvester Lilley and Ethel Hopkins. Mrs. H. S. Midgett Hostess To Round Dozen Club Mrs. H. S. Midgett was hostess to the Round Dozen Bridge Club Fri day evening. Legion Auxiliary Meets With Mrs. Jno. Carlisle The local American Legion Aux iliary met Monday evening with Mrs. John Carlisle. Mrs. W. B. Cox and Mrs. J. H. Swindell were associate hostesses. The president. Mrs. J. B. Willough by, presided. Following reading of the preamble, it was reported that a gift had been sent to a sick per son. Officers were not elected at this meeting as originally scheduled, and the election was postponed to a fu ture meeting. Frances Stell Spruill and Gwen Hurley were reported to be attending the girls' state convention in Greens boro as representatives ot the aux iliary. Helen Carr accompanied them. Twelve members were present at the meeting. Mrs. Carlisle was asked to send the year’s report to state headquarters. A dessert course, accentuating the red. white and blue motif, was served.
