Folks of Washington County A Doing Your Part in the Rubber Salvage Campaign Will En able This Boy—Who Might Well Be One of Our Boys—To Do His Part! Hundreds oi our own flesh and blood are now in the armed forces, and more are going almost every day. It is estimated that almost 400 Washington County men are now in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. RUBBER is desperately needed to properly equip them with the planes, guns, tanks and ships they must have to defeat the Axis. Will Washington County Go “Over the Top” for Them? A great nation-wide rubber salvage campaign is underway. £.very man, woman and child, white and colored, in Washington County is asked to take part by helping to gather and turn in old rubber. What you can do is very simple: Collect all the old rubber you can hnd anywhere around your home or farm; take it to your nearest filling station, which will pay you 1 cent a pound for it; and this rubber will be used to build the planes which will bomb Berlin and LTokio. Every kind of old rubber is wanted: Old tires, rubber raincoats, overshoes, gloves, shoe soles and heels, bathing caps, toys, balls, or anything else made of rubber. Time is short, as this campaign closes June 30th, when an inventory of the collection will be made- SO DO IT NOW! If the amount of rubber turned in is large enough, it may mean some new tires for civilian auto mobiles; it may even help to do away with gas rationing. Best of all, our own Washington County boys who go into battle will be well enough equipped to meet the German and Jap on even terms. And if the odds are evened up, we have no fear of the result. But you must do your part—and do it now! .4. ★ ★ ★ — M——————————— „ „ „ Save Every Scrap of Old Rubber! Deliver it io your nearest filling station before June 30th. Every pound will mean something to the boys who are giving their all for us. We cannot emphasize too strongly how important it is for everyone to do his part in this drive.' Our boys need it—the President has requested it—and your own future demands it!
