T. Terry, announcing rha: the new hunting and fishing licenses have been plac ed on saie in Washington County re cently, this week announced the open hunting seasons and limits for vari ous game birds and animals. The seasons and bag limits, both day and for the season, are as fol iuws in Washington County: Bear, October 1 to January 1, two a day and two a season. Male deer, October 1 to January 11, one a day and three a season. Opossum and racoon, with gun and dogs. October 1 to February 15.: no bag limit. Headlining the cast are those tal ented youngsters known variously as the Dead End Kids and the Little Tough Guys. Paul Kelly, Helen Par ish and Ann Gillis augment the per sonnel prominently involved in the plot. Halop Heads Cast Heading the male group is Billy Halop. handsome and most versatile of the original Dead Enders who, in "Tough As They Come,” essays his first romantic leading role. Afford ing descriptive contrasts to Halop are the others of the group—Huntz Hall. Bernard Punsly and Gabriel Dell. Hall is the most pugnacious of the Dead Enders. the quarrelsome spark plug in the melee of bickering and laugh-studded wrangling prominent in their performances. Punsly is the perfect stooge. Among the players are a bevy of bathing beauties and the seven most beautiful cowgirls in the world. Two of the most picturesque dude ranches in Southern California—the B-Bar A near Newhall and Rancho Chihuhua in Solemint Canyon—were among the four location sites used by Director Arthur Lubin in the pro duction of the offering. A third spot was Ravenna, a whistle stop 60 miles from Hollywood, where Universal built a teepee village. Romantic interest in Ride ’Em Cowboy" is carried by beautiful Miss Gwynne, Foran and Brown. Miss Gwynne portrays a rodeo star and daughter of the dude ranch owner. Foran is the author of best-seller Western novels who has never been west of Broadway, while Brown is the ranch foreman. Queen of Swing Ella Fitzgerald. America's queen of swing vocalizing, makes her screen debut as the ranch cook. She sings her own one-time hit tune, "A Tisket, A Tasket.” True Boardman and John Grant wrote the screen play from the adap tation by Harold Shumate. Edmund L. Humphrey Bogart is Tough-Guy In New Film Here Sunday “The Big Shot” Has Un usual Story and Star Combination "The Big Shot." Warner Bros’, new film which shows at the Plymouth Theatre Sunday has a story and star combination that makes for sure-fire screen entertainment. It has an ac tion-packed story which stars Hump hrey Bogart as a one-time big shot gangster who is caught between two fires. He can't go straight because no honest person wants to bother with a guy who has been up the river three times. And he can't get into any more trouble because the next time it's life! Hounded by his past, taunted by fellow gangsters as a has-been, Bo gart is driven to distraction. Final ly iafter all, a guy has to do some thing to make some dough) he con sents to act as the "brains" for an armored car stickup. And anyhow, the boys convinced him that nothing could go wrong because one of the underworld's cleverest mouthpieces (a role played by Stanley Ridges) was ; backing them. But plenty could go wrong, especially if the lawyer's wife : happened to be your former sweet heart before you did your third stretch. Newcomer Has Top Role Irene Manning, an alluring new comer to the screen, plays the top feminine role and advance opinion says that she is headed for a sue cessful screen career. As Ridges wife, she explains to Bogart, that she had to marry because she was finan cially desperate, but now that he is back everything will be all right, if he would only promise not to return to his career of crime. On the night of the stickup. Irene pi events Bogart from going through with the job by keeping him in his room at the point of a gun. Despite this, a befuddled witness identifies him as the person who used her as a shield in making his getaway from the pursuing police after the holdup Has Exciting Climax Someone tips off Ridges as to what's been going on between his wife and Bogart and as a result he lets Humphrey take a lifetime rap for a crime he never committed.
