Mrs. A. J. Byrd, president of the senior club, and Mrs. Linwood Brown, president of the junior club, greeted the guests and directed them to their seats at the table, which held flower arrangements in Halloween colors. Mrs. R. H. Lucas gave the invoca tion. after which “America" was sung by the group, with Mrs. R. W. John ston accompanying on the piano. The club presidents then expressed words of welcome. Following the dinner, a program was rendered, with Mrs. Byrd in charge. A quiz program was con ducted by Mrs. T. L. Bray, with five teachers and five club members tak ing part. Tile teachers won. Mrs. E. W. Furgurson rendered two vocal numbers, with Mrs. Johnston at the piano. A humorous reading was then given by Miss Charlotte McNair. H. H. McLean, county superintendent of schools, and R. B. Trotman, princi pal of the local schools, made brief talks. Mrs. W. V. Hays made a talk, bespeaking aid and interest in estab lishing a recreation center here for the young people of the community. In conclusion. ' The Star-Spangled Banner” was sung. The dinner was served by six high school girls: Fiances Spruill. Martha Manning. Carolyn Brown, Jean Mod lin, Eunice Holliday, and Joyce Har ris.
