However, Tyrone does more than all right with the fiery redhead in the picture. Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara in Feature Next Week “The Black Swan” Shows at Plymouth Theatre Monday-Tuesday The master story-teller's most ex citing story of the sea, Rafael Saba tini’s “The Black Swan," has been translated by 20th Century-Pox into a rousing adventure film. Said to retain all the lusty tang of the book, the film looms all the more glorious, in its swashbuckling way. thanks to the gift of blazing Technicolor. Starring Tyrone Power and Mau reen O'Hara, the film coming Mon day and Tuesday to the Plymouth Theatre features a cast fully equal in magnitude to the richness of the story—Laird Cregar. Thomas Mitch ell,, George Sanders, Anthony Quinn. George Zucco and hundreds of others. Rafael Sabatini's breath-taking tale is a classic, of course. Tire book has yet to be written that can match “The Black Swan" in virility, in the tempestuousness of its romance, the breakneck pace of its trubulent ac tion. the fury of its stirring charac ters. The film's tory is known to vir tually all. It hold a nautical teles cope, so to speak, over the whole era when villainy wore a -sash and cutlass, and the only political creed in the world was love, gold and ad venture, It tells the saga of the freebooters, those bold seafarers turned loose by greedy princes to waylay other greedy princes. The dashing role of Capt. James Waring, a bucaneer who plunders a ship's prize or lady’s lips with equal abandon, would seem to be tailor made for Power. And who better for his two-fisted brother brigands of the sea than the cinema’s most hissable character actors—Liard Cre gar, Thomas Mitchell, George San ders, Anthony Quinn and George Zucco? Incidentally, “The Black Swan" marks the first romantic pair ing of Power and Miss O'Hara. Farm Equipment Items Released From Quota List -® Will Be Rationed on State Wide Basis Instead of By Counties -s In an effort to move all available equipment into active production as quickly as possible, several kinds of farm machinery and equipment have been released from county quotas and will be rationed only on a state basis, it was announced today by W. D, Phelps, chairman of the County USDA War Board. The release of this equipment was provided in an amendment to Food Production Order 3, which authorized the State USDA War Board to re lease items on which there now is an aquitable distribution between counties, the chairman said. The itmes released by the State War Board include: tractor-darwn or mounted boldboard plows, tractor drawn or mounted plows, one-way tillers, transplanters, garden trac tors, soil pulverizers and packers, ro tary hoer. spring tooth harrows, pow er take-off tractors mowers, power sprayers, traction spray pumps tpow er), power dusters, traction dusters, hammer mills, and burr mills. "This action does not release these itmes from state quotas,’’ Mr. Phelps declared. “Manufacturers still will be required to follow the original pattern set of rthe state. However, they are authorized to affix a tax in dicating only that the machine is to be sold in the state of North Caro lina. The release of these itmes from county quotas does not mean that they can be sold to farmers of any other state if they were manufac tured for sale in North Carolina.” He said county farm machinery ra tioning committes may issue pur chase certificates for these items and dealers may honor the certificates regardless of county designations and regardless of county quotas. Eddie Bracken, by deceiving him into believing that the old man is head of the studio, and Betty his secretary. The deception is a cinch by correspondence by it be comes something less than that when Eddie and a group of sailor pals show up in Los Angles on shore leave. Eddie promising his friends the time of their lives at the studio. Betty conceives a crack-brained idea of how to continue the decep tion for the duration of the boys’ leave, as well as to put on a show for them with Paramount's roster of stars participating. Betty's idea backfires hilariously in Moore's face, although the show does go on. stu pendously.
