Navy Recruiter D R Taylor, of the New Bern station, today urged these yount men to investigate the excel lent opportunities for advancement in the Navy while serving their coun try And emphasis is being placed on enlistments of women 20 26 in the WAVES Recruiter Taylor will be stationed in Plymouth at the Post Office on Saturday August 7th The station in New Bern is also pointing out that recent revisions of the physical requirements for en listment in the Navy have lowered tile physical standards in many Instances to be held in line along with other commodity figures, we guess the aver age is a fair one.' one farmer de clared in voicing the sentiment among those farmers questioned about the new price figure for the current crop It could not be learned immediate ly what price range if any would be allowed. Last year, it will be recall ed that tlie price range hardly ever went over SO cents a pound, but that tobacco of any quality whatever sold way up in the thirties and was fairly stable in the forty-cent range, Judg ing from the preliminary announce ment, the buyer may pay any price he chooses to pay as long as his price average up to January 2. 1944 is not in excess of forty-one cents a pound in addition to the weighted aver age of 41 cents per pound for auction sales, the agency established a maxi mum price of five cents a pound for scrap tobacco, but such purchases are to be included when the aver age for I he season is determined. While the preliminary announcement is not quite clear in many details, it is understood that some of the better types of scrap may be soid oh the auction floors and will not, come un der the $5 price regulation fixed for scrap tobacco.
