HARUE HENDERSON KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE Far on some Battle field in France, Our precious boy was slain; He left his home and native land And crossed the mighty main. In bloom of youth he left our home— His age was twenty three— He bravely crossed the mighty deep To fight for liberty. With tear-dimmed eyes we watched him leave. Until he passed from sight. Oh Harlie! precious Harlie, dear! The boy of our delight! He helped to gain the victory. But sacrificed his life To free the world from Prussian rule- From war, bloodshed and strife. So blessed be God’s Holy name, His life for right was biven; He’s gone to wear a golden crown With angels up in heaven. Written by his aged father, JOHN C. HENDERSON.
