WHIPPOORWILL BREVARD INSTITUTE NOTES In the triangular dekgte between Saluda and Brevard, hdW>n Friday night, siniultaneously at Saluda and the Institute, the visiting team from Saluda won over the Institute, while the Institute boys won at Saluda. The query was one chosen by the State University; Resolved, that the U. S. should adopt a policy of requir ing one year of military training of all ablebodied men under 21. The Adelphian Society gave a charming musical progarm on Satur day night, the most striking feature of which, was a musical play, entitled The Contest of Nations, rendered by 13 young ladies, in appropriate cos tumes. Prof. Trowbridge returned Mon day night from a week’s trip to Knox ville, Columbus, Ohio, and London, Ky., on business connected with the Centenary to be held in Columbus in July. CHIEF COMMENDS SOLDIER Among the first of Transylvania’s sons to take up arms against the force of autocracy and to go to Franco to fight the Huns was Doll Swanigim. This young man has now returned to us with a record as a soldier which reflects credit on his county and I feel confident that his future record as a citizen will contin ue to be a matter of pride to his friends and neighbors who most cord ially welcome him home.
