Brevard Lumber Company FRANK JENKINS, Manager Phone 120 Close to Depot mm \%s4 isssis Below we eive in full a letter written by Mr. A. Emerson, Eve, a receht visitor'to Brevard. There are certain things which immediately impress the visitor to the beautiful little town of B'revwd, in Transylvania. County, N. C. One is the atmosphere of hospitality, ^he evident hearty welcome and cordiality extended to the stranger and’to the occasional visitor. Another is the re markable natural, beauty of the ^nd- scape in close proximity to the town —^the wonderfully broad and fertile valleys so near a town that nestles in the heart of high mountains. I have heard exclamations of pleasant surprise from lowland visitors to Bre vard that the valleys near'the town should be so broad in a section high up in the mountains. Still another J feature that strikes the visitor are the water-falls so near town. For natural beauty these falls can hardly be surpassed. I find that the good roads spirit has taken hold of the people of Bre vard and Transylvania. There is every reason to believe that in a short while, the roads, the highways leading out into the surrounding coun try will be so improved that they will delight the heart of the automobilist. With its great natural advantages for the home-seeker, and its wonder ful attractions for the health and pleasure seeker, properly brought to the notice of the outside world, there can be no question but that Brevard and Transylvania County will grow and develop more rapidly in the next few years than at any time in their past history. There is a live weekly newpaper, published by Mr. C. B. Osborne. It goes without speaking that the local paper, if properly supported by the citizens of the community, will be a great factor in th^ upbuilding of the town and surrounding county. It brings business from the outside, as well as building up the business that is already established on the inside. The American people are the greatest readers of newspapers of any people on earth. The outsider forms his first impression, (whether right or wrong), and m£ikes up his first judg ments of ^the character and intelli gence of a community, and of its en terprise, by the character of its local newspaper. People who take pride in their home paper, giving it their financial and moral support, soon dis cover that the town itself, as well as the paper, is growing and improving from day to day. A. EMERSON EVE. SUMMER OR WINTER RESORT? We wonder if the advertising com mittee thought that Brevard was to be advertised as a winter resort.
