It is not content with a mere cessation of hostilities at any particular period of the WQrld's history. It aims at the establishment of reason and justice as the rule of 'the world’s life. It proiK>ses to find the bass of the ^ tablishment in the freely Expressed will of the peoples of the world. The men. an^ women who do the world^s work are the sovereigns who must guarantee this real peace of the world. That is what we fought for. Not a Roman peace, nor a German peace, nor a ’ British peace, but a human peace—a peace which will bring a positive benefit" to all the tribes of humanity.—Dr. Van Dyke. Pray’for a human peace—a peace which will bring a positive benefit to all the peoples of the earth. Almighty God, Ruler of the Nations, in Thee is our only hope. Move Thou upon the wills of m^n, and constrain the peoples in the paths of unity and pcace. Hast Thou not called us jto share with Thee in the drder and government of the world? Grant us v/isdom, 0 Lord, that we may discern the causes of conflict, the things that make for international hate and jeal ousy. We know, that only as we yield ourselves aS instruments of peace, can peace come to our stricken earth. Quicken our consciences that we may feel the sin and shame of war. In spire us with courage and faith, that we may lift up our voices against private greed, social injustice, the aggression of the strong on the weak, and whatsoever else works enmity between man and man, class and class, nation and nation. Create within us a passion for the reign of righteousness, the spread of brother hood and good will among. na- tions, so that we may hasten the ful fillment of Thine ancient w6rd, “Na tions shall not lift up swor(i against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” Amen. The clothing mer chant should buy his groceries, etc., at home when possible and vice-versa. When local concerns invest thous ands of dollars in equipment suitable for a city four times as large as Brevard, and especially when the good people of our beautiful little city donate their hard earned kale in order to help build a greater Brevard, it certainly looks’ like the local organization ahd^bme of the supposed leading business men would practice their own teachings and at LEAST give local industries a chance to bid. It is always best to keep the money at home and all that, espec ially when money can be saved by so doing. The writer does not believe iii knocking unless absolutely neces sary, but when the said leading men absolutely ignore a local industry that does turn out splendid work and has the best of modem and up-to- date equipment, it is only fair play to “give em a bid”. It may be ‘sour grapes', but we must remember that should the folks here start buying out of town if they were convinced they could get better goods for less money* tlMn wouldn’t the shoe be on the other foot? * W..
