ROSMAN SCHOOL NOTES The following teachers are in the corps this year and all are doing good work: First Primary B—Miss W. Thomas, First Primary A—Miss D. Gillespie. Second Primary—Mrs. A. P. Bell. Intermediate—Miss Buelah Whit mire. Grammar—Miss Alberta Perkins. Prin. and H. S.—Mr. J. E. Ocker- mah. About 250 different pupils have al ready been enrolled in the various de partments this year. At the beginning of the year a cam paign was launched against tardiness and irrej^ular attendance with grati fying results. As an incentive to promptness in attendance, a beautiful flag with staff was purchased with money contribut ed by the school. This flag is to be held as an honor or banner flag, for one month by the room making the low est per cent of absences or tardiness during the proceeding month. This little scheme has caused a wholesome rivalry between the rooms resulting in improved conditions as to punctua lity. The grammar department has won the flag for two successive months, although there has been a close contest in the various depart ments. Thanksgiving a Pie Social was given in the auditorium of the school build ing on Thursday Evening by the girls in the Home Economics Class. The evening was spent very pleasantly in games, recitations and pie-eating which was enjoyed by a large number The school closed on Wednesday evening for the two days Thanks giving vacation—Thursday and Fri day. A Thanksgiving program was rendered by the various rooms on Wednesday afternoon. Prof. and Mrs. Ockorman are at tending the State Teachers’ Assembly at Raleigh this Vvoek. The school will close on Dec. 19, for a two week’s vacation with a Christmas Program to be rendered by the schools combined on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 19. ' Since the New High School Build ing for the Rosman Schools is an as sured fact a new impetus is added to school work. Wednesday of last week Chief of Police Stroup, J. A. Galloway, Deputy Sims and Millie Stroup made a raid on blockaders in little auger hole sec tion and captured an 110 gallon still, 800 gallons of beer and all fixtures except the worm. Also a 70 gallon still on the waters of Bear creek about a mile from first one, all. fixtures had been moved at this place except one bax'rell. A Ladj ia Chicago TaUgraphs for Rat-Snap. Davis, Davijdson River; Miss Lula M. Cassidey, Co. Dem; Mr. W. L. Car michael, Co. Teacher of adult illiter ates and Co. Supt. A. F. Mitchell. The meeting was a grand success and enjoyed by all who attended.
